This time I think I can claim we're a
little bit ahead of the curve! Front Sight
touched on building an AR for Limited
just recently, and Guy Neill's column
in this issue addresses reloading for militry
rifles. Also, I've been corresponding
with Bennie Cooley, Jr. about continuing
to supply Front Sight with rifle articles.
With any luck he'll take up the
challenge!
High-Performance Glock 9mm
Dear Robin.
Shared your last issues with articles
on Glock pistols and modifications
with several shooters. Wish you could
continue with more how-to on Glocks.
Also I'm interested in WHICH powders
your staff are experimenting with
to make 165 pf with 9mm. We don't
want to go that hot but would like to
venture above 125pf safely.
Thanks,
While the exact results of Michael
Voigt's pressure tests are not available
to the public, Mr. Voigt did share with
me some suggestions for high-performance
9mm Luger loads. While not all
of these powders can approach the 16S
power factor range, they all performed
well on the upper end of the power
scale. Specifically, he pointed towards
SP2, 3N38, N105, and even N3S0.
HOWEVER, as Guy Neill pointed
out, 9mm Luger is very sensitive to
overall length. Use great care when developing
high-performance 9mm Luger
loads. A small error in overall length or
charge weight can dramatically change
the pressures generated.
Sir,
It would be nice to see a page or
Super-Mario's project. More than the gunsmithing, our staff was impressed
with the photographs sent to us by Mr. rvienciez (see ierter above).
Even our hard-boiled staff photographer Roger Maier gave him high marks.
Beware Canadian Customs?
Robin,
I read Al Voth's report on the Canadian
Open. AI made comments about
the lack of participants from the
United States. He made it seem like it
was no big deal to come to Canada
with a gun. I can tell you first hand
about my experience entering without
a gun and as a result I am not willing to
take chances by bringing a gun into
us." All of us were getting a little hostile
by now, and the inspector gave us a
slip of paper and sent us to be
searched. He told us selection for the
search was strictly random.
I am not willing to risk going into
Canada with a gun, even one that is
properly documented.
Yours is the second letter we had discussing
gun regulations in Canada visa-vis
Al Voth's article (the first was too
rude to be printed). It inay interest you
to know that foreign competitors coming
into the United States are now re-
