28, getting all her points even
while firing in several seconds
of darkness! She finished stage
29 in 6 seconds putting her in a
commanding lead.
Debby James was the last of
the US Team to shoot a pistol
in Australia. A match veteran,
she knew what must be done.
She finished stage 28 in 3.80
seconds, a Master run.
Sitting in a darkened car,
was the start position of stage
29. On signal, she groped in
the pitch black glove box for her
.38 super. 8 muzzles blasts lit
the darkened room in 4.60
seconds. She exited the car,
showed clear, and walked
downrange into IPSC history.
The only woman to ever win
consecutive World Titles.
World Shoot M was not the
picnic we'd expected. It was 9
days of hard work. At weeks
end we, the Americans, asserted
beyond any shadow of a doubt,
our continued dominance in the
sport of IPSC.
The closing ceremonies were
very disappointing. Traditionally,
champions and nations are
honored for excellence in inter-
national competition.
At the
awards banquet, the 2 IPSC
World Champions were initially
mentioned in a "By-The-Way"
fashion, not by name, but as
"...The lady ..." and "... the match
winner ..." Our US Mens' and
Womens' teams, two of the
strongest IPSC teams ever
assembled, and the very'best in
the world were called up piecemeal,
omitting members names.
They fought the good fight
and won in the eyes of extreme
adversity. And, although only
one man and one woman had a
few more points than the rest,
all 10 are World Champions!
