GAME 7: NIAGARA 68, BUFFALO 65 (OT)
December 11, 2004 • Buffalo, NY • Attendance: 3,142
The Bulls overcame a 12-point deficit midway through
the second half before eventually falling to visiting
Niagara, 68-65, in front of 3,142 fans in Alumni Arena.
Niagara took a 10-0 lead to open the game and led
by as many as 13 in the first half, but the Bulls used a
16-5 run to end the half down by just two, 28-26. A
13-1 run by the Purple Eagles in the second half put
them up by 12, 47-35, but Buffalo slowly climbed back
into the game, forcing OT with a jumper in the lane
by senior Allison Bennett with 1:10 left in regulation.
NU’s Eva Cunningham, however, took control in the
extra session with seven points, including four late
free throws, to secure the win for the Purple Eagles.
Junior Brooke Meunier led all scorers with a careerhigh
25 points, and freshman Heather Turner (13
points, career-high 16 rebounds) and Bennett (12
points, career-high 11 rebounds) both recorded
double-doubles. The Bulls outrebounded Niagara by a
62-43 margin, with Turner (16), Bennett (11), freshman
Stephanie Bennett (nine) and sophomore Belinda
Gibb (eight) all grabbing career highs.
