The Non-Conference Schedule<br />
The Bulls finished the 2004-05 non-conference slate with a 2-9 record, giving<br />
<strong>Buffalo</strong> head coach Cheryl Dozier a 43-32 non-conference record to date<br />

The WBCA/Summerville RPI<br />
In the preseason WBCA/Summerville RPI report released on November<br />
3, <strong>Buffalo</strong> had the 93rd-ranked strength of schedule in Division I,<br />
which<br />
was the second-highest in the Mid-American Conference (behind 88th<br />
Western Michigan). When looking at only non-conference games, the<br />
Bulls were ranked 119th, also second<br />
highest in the MAC behind Western<br />
Michigan (50th). The Bulls are facing six teams in 2004-05 that advanced<br />
to the postseason last year: Connecticut (NCAA), Maine (NCAA), Eastern<br />
Michigan (NCAA), Kent State (WNIT), Miami (OH) (WNIT) and Western<br />
Michigan (WNIT). In the latest conference RPI rating, released on January<br />
30, the Mid-American Conference is ranked 20th out of the 31 conferences<br />
in Division I.<br />
Bulls Sign Four During Early Period<br />
<strong>Buffalo</strong> head coach Cheryl Dozier signed four players to National Letters of<br />
Intent during the November signing period. They are: Rayna Brown (5-8, G,<br />
Montclair, NJ/Montclair), Dortae Freeman (G, 5-9, Detroit, MI/Cass Technical),<br />
Rachelle Matthys (5-9, G, St. Clair, MI/St. Clair) and Jamie Schiebner (6-0,<br />
F, Saginaw, MI/Heritage). All four will continue their academic and athletic<br />
careers at UB beginning in the fall of 2005. Brown is a 5-8 point guard who<br />
is ranked 32nd in the country among all point guards by the All-Star Girl’s<br />
Report Scouting Service. Brown averaged 10.5 points, 10 rebounds, four<br />
assists and five steals last season at Montclair High School. Her older sister<br />
Bianca played point guard at Wake Forest. Freeman, 5-9, comes to UB from<br />
the same high school as Daniel Gilbert, a senior on the UB men’s basketball<br />
team. She averages 15 points, six rebounds and eight assists per game and<br />
is ranked sixth by Prep Sports among Public School League (PSL) seniors.<br />
This past season, she led her team to a third-place finish in the PSL. Matthys<br />
is an All-State guard who recently led her team to a 27-1 overall record and<br />
an appearance in the Class B state championship game. The Saints won their<br />
third straight Class B district title in 2004 and were the second-ranked team<br />
in the state in Class B. Matthys, 5-9, is an All-Area, All-Conference, All-State<br />
Honorable Mention and Times Herald All-Blue Water Area selection as well<br />
as a member of the Academic All-State team. She is averaging 14.5 points,<br />
5.9 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.3 steals per game while shooting 45 percent<br />
from the floor and 35 percent from three-point range. Schiebner comes to<br />
UB from the same high school as current <strong>Buffalo</strong> junior Brooke Meunier.<br />
A 6-0 post player, she is a three-year letterwinner who led her team to the<br />
Class A State Championship title in 2002 and to a runner-up finish in 2001.<br />
She was a first-team Saginaw Valley League selection and a Saginaw News<br />
Dream Team member as a junior. As a senior, she averaged 12.3 points, 9.3<br />
rebounds and 2.5 steals per game.<br />
