being folded) <strong>and</strong> 11 coloured photostats, 1 original tinted folded
map <strong>and</strong> 4 tinted folded maps in a good photocopy in pocket at the
back of vol. 2. H.calf with gilt flyleaves <strong>and</strong> one newly bound (vol. 3)

= Very rare as it is a separate print from the Zeitschrift der Ges. für Erdkunde zu Berlin
<strong>and</strong> Journal für Ornithologie, of both we hold rare complete sets, please inquire. Deals
with the birds of north-eastern Africa <strong>and</strong> is very well illustrated. Most probably
privately printed after the death of Erlanger in 1904. There are no copies in Nissen IVB,
Anker or the Cat. British Museum (Nat. Hist.). NDB Vol.IV, 592: "Hat als einer der Ersten
das damals neu aufkommende und viel umstrittene Prinzip der Zoogeographie zum
Leitgedanken seiner Forschungen gemacht und ihm zum Durchsetzen verholfen". Fine
copy with all the beauties of chromolithographs by Kleinschmidt. The rare vol. 3 which is
mostly lacking is in a good photocopy <strong>and</strong> includes the 11 coloured photostats! There is a
nice dedication by the author in vol. 2, dated Juli 1905.
