Orig. red pictorial cloth with new flyleaves <strong>and</strong> gilt edges. = <strong>Rare</strong>, not in Nissen IVB; second enlarged edition. € 395,= A nice gilt centrally placed vignette of a pheasant also by T. Wood. Bindings with several spots <strong>and</strong> small defects. 246. Temminck, C. Verh<strong>and</strong>elingen over de Natuurlijke Geschiedenis der Nederl<strong>and</strong>sche Overzeesche Bezittingen door de leden der natuurkundige commissie in Indië en <strong>and</strong>ere Schrijvers. Uitgegeven op last van den Koning: Zoologie in 2 vols. being text of 700p., 5 ll. <strong>and</strong> atlas with 100 lithographs of which 89 are h<strong>and</strong>coloured (some partially). Leiden, Luchtmans <strong>and</strong> v.d. Hoek, 1839/44. Folio. Text in new h.cloth with marbled boards <strong>and</strong> atlas new h.cloth portfolio. € 6.800,= = Nissen ZBI, 4802: under Verh<strong>and</strong>elingen. One of the rarest <strong>and</strong> most important contributions to the Zoology of Indonesia during the 19th century. Other parts have been published in these Verh<strong>and</strong>elingen, but the zoological part is by far the most important <strong>and</strong> beautiful. Contributions are by S.Müller, H.Schlegel <strong>and</strong> C. de Haan mostly dealing with Mammals (48) <strong>and</strong> 12 Birds, such as the Buceros Comatus <strong>and</strong> Cassidix Falco (3), Nectarinia (4). Furthermore with apes, fishes, butterflies <strong>and</strong> other insects (23) <strong>and</strong> 10 fine snake plates of Indonesia. A waterstain at the right upper corner of the first 200p. of text. Most plates have several small repaired holes in the margins but without touching the images itself. A few plates cut short with some slight loss of the figures <strong>and</strong> some plates very lightly marginally foxed. <strong>Rare</strong>, only published in 250 copies! 247.
