The apical angle is 40°, the sides <strong>of</strong> the spire maintaining approximatelythe same angle <strong>of</strong> clircrgcnce, or converging a little, givinga slightly inflated longitudinal pr<strong>of</strong>ile. Sides <strong>of</strong> whorls nearly flatto slightly convex, and a littlc compressc~l helow the suture; suturemoderately impressed. The larger whorls <strong>of</strong> the spire ornamented wit1114 to 16 strong, somewhat irregularly spaced, round crested, asial rihsmhich in trend are slightly concave to\vnrd the front; finer rihs can hcseen on the smaller ~rllorls ~vith the esception <strong>of</strong> the two srnootll nucn-I o r On the oppcr part <strong>of</strong> the body ~vhorl arc ahont 14 prominentlongitudinal ribs mhich end rather abrnptly a little more thanhalfway to t,he base; th'csc are crossed by very fine spiral lines; thclo~rer part <strong>of</strong> the ~ ~horl is marked by fine, rather distinct spiral ridges.The inner lip <strong>of</strong> the adult is thickened and spreads a little forward onthe body mhorl. The outer lip espands into a prominent spur-likeprojection, at first broad and nearly horizontal, t,hen curving sharplyupward and narrowing quickly to a point. On the lower eclge <strong>of</strong> thelip are t~ro minor projections, the inferior one <strong>of</strong> which is the largest.A distinct ridge traverses the outer surface <strong>of</strong> the main projection alittle above the center, curving upward and extending to t,he farthesttip <strong>of</strong> the lip; this ridge fades out quickly where it passes backwarrlonto the body mhorl. Canal short, straight, and narrow. Aperturesomewhat elongated, angulatcd above and below. Approsinlate dimensions<strong>of</strong> the type: Altitude 32 mm. ; greatest iliameter 11 mm. ; the altitude<strong>of</strong> one specimen in the collection is at least SO mm." (Stephenson)Remarks.-Johnson illustrated a portion <strong>of</strong> a shell from a well atMt.
