A sense of age and tradition will impress you at Western Maryland. The first building of thecollege, now eighty years old, is still in use. You may get your mail from Post Office in its basementthe-or paint pictures in the studios of the Art department on an Upper floor. The slightly less ancientwings of Old Main house the new Grille and the Recreation Room, where you may have a snack or relaxat ping-pong with your roommate. Close around you will be memories of the nineteenth century, butsharing your table will be the friends of the rest of your life.
Ample opportunity will be given you to engage in religious work. A church-relatedinstitution, Western Maryland is affiliated with the Methodist denomination. J[ ),ou are aCatholic a Jew or a member of another Protestant group, however, you find membersor willof your church among the students. There will be chance for you work in a denominationala togroup, in Sunday School, or in some other student sponsored Christian association.orThe Sunday evening service on the campus transcends sectarian boundaries with greatfrom all denominations, with simple prayers and meditations about his Creatormusicemanating from the believing heart of man. The college fosters a faith that is broad enoughfor tolerance, deep enough for reverence. Your spirit will grow strong on Western Mary.land's campus.
