Recent Events: Alumni DayAn Evening of HonorsAn honor to be invited, Omicron Kappa Usilon (OKU) is a national dental honorsociety that recognizes outstanding achievements. The organization is limited to dentalprofessionals who have distinguished themselves academically and professionally.In congruence with the Alumni Day festivities, the UDMSD OKU chapter held adinner honoring those individuals inducted into the organization. Classes whose years ended with either a “3” or an “8” gathered at thehotel to celebrate and reminisce. A live jazz band created a relaxing ambiance asalumni relived their days in dental school. Alumni Celebrateat the Henry HotelOn Friday, April 26th, alumni, faculty, staff and students of theSchool of Dentistry, enjoyed a packed day of participating incontinuing education, networking with peers, and catching upon the latest news from the School of Dentistry. The daybegan with a presentation entitled “The Prevention, Recognitionand Management of Emergencies in the Dental Office,” byPamela Hughes (’97).After enjoying the continuing education session, attendeesparticipated in an awards luncheon. The luncheon recognizedindividuals for their ongoing dedication and support of theSchool. Honorees were:Alumnus of the Year:Allied Alumnus of the Year:Honorary Alumnus of the Year:Dr. Robert LegelMs. Colleen KuxhausDr. Sherif BadrAlso recognized were Dr. Fares Elias, Alumni BoardPresident; Dr. Mark Frenchi, Alumni Board Treasurer; andDr. Curt Ralstrom, Alumni Board Secretary. A special thanksto all of the honorees who have provided numerous years ofservice and support to the School of Dentistry.To end the day, attendees were invited to participate inthe Dean’s Reception.
