Thanks to theefforts of the dentists, dentalhygienists, faculty, staff, and studentsat the School of Dentistry, children fromour surrounding community were ableto walk out of the Corktown Campuswith a healthier smile. Children rangingin age from four to 16 participated in the“Give Kids a Smile” event Saturday,February 2nd, and were provided oralhealthcare free of charge.Once participants entered the clinic,a majority of the care was provided by4th year students under the supervisionof the School’s faculty. As a token ofappreciation for their participation,the children were given an oral healthkit containing toothpaste, floss and abig smile.The School is very proud to participatein this event, and is looking forward tonext year!UDM’s Got Talent!A range of talents were on display thisyear at the Gem Theatre in Detroit, MI.On Friday, February 15th the Schoolhosted its annual talent show. Fromsinging to dancing, to piano solos andcomedy skits, 11 acts took the stageto showcase their skills. With theperformances being such a big hit, theshow has already confirmed a date fornext year. Taste of DiversityEach year, the UDM chapter of the Student National Dental Association (SNDA)holds their annual Taste of Diversity dinner, which typically serves over 200 students,faculty, and staff. This year’s dinner was held in March at the Corktown Campus,and was an opportunity for faculty and staff members to share a bit of their culturalbackground. Much of the food was prepared to reflect their ethnicities and personaltastes. As guests enjoyed the diverse dishes, the entertainment included a wide-rangeof live musical performance and dancing. In addition, cultural exhibits containingunique artifacts were on display for participants to learn more about.
