Connect the laplink cables to the com port of the two computers.2. Connect the PAT interface unit to the dual computer using the two com ports.3. Connect the other end of the laplink cables to the PAT interface cable withone gender changer.4. When the system is connected turn on the computers.5. Run the PAT software on all computers.6. On the two simulation computers get into the interactive mode.In the dual computer, get into the dual monitor mode.7. Type something on each computer <strong>and</strong> verify that the data is correct on allcomputers. If it is not correct, why is it so?8. The instructor will designate one computer as the slave <strong>and</strong> another as themaster.9. The third computer will be used to log the data as it is transferred from themaster to the slave <strong>and</strong> back.10. The master <strong>and</strong> slave computers will run the Modbus software.11. The monitoring computer will run the PAT software.12. Toggle between master <strong>and</strong> slave by pressing F10.13. On the master <strong>and</strong> slave press F11 <strong>and</strong> setup the communications for9600 8N1 address 1.14. Setup the monitoring computer using the PAT software for 9600 8N1 usinghex as a code. Enter the dual monitor mode in the PAT software under themenu display.15. On the master computer configure the Modbus software by pressing F3.Enter 000A0002.16. On the slave computer configure the Modbus software by pressing the pagedown key. Change coil data for A <strong>and</strong> B to 1s. Press the page up key to returnto the main screen when the change has been made.17. On the master computer press F9. This will send the packet0101000A00029DC9.18. On the slave computer, follow the instructions on the screen <strong>and</strong> press anykey. This will send the packet 010101031189 back to the master computer.19. Verify on the monitoring computer that the correct information is displayedon the screen.20. Setup the monitoring computer to log the packets by entering the log dataunder the display menu in the PAT software (dual log).21. The master will send the packet again by hitting F9.22. How many bytes of data did the monitor see?23. View the data on the monitor computer by ending out of log data <strong>and</strong>moving down one line to view log file under the display menu.24. How would you setup the monitor to log based on a string?25. Setup the monitor computer to do a pre trigger log based on a CRC.
