His affect was flat, and there were some grandioseparanoid features, but from a diagnostic perspective he would fall within theschizotypal spectrum.The following two cases involve a compulsion to kill which was impulsivelytriggered by the victims’ conduct; their behavior aroused feelings ofanger and humiliation in the offenders.Case 9.5: Compulsion Released by Victim’s Promiscuous BehaviorA 23-year-old male (EE) met a 17-year-old female (C) at an amusement park.After speaking with her briefly, he took her for a ride in his truck. C told him thatshe had a boyfriend and was concerned about the boyfriend’s finding out that shehad left with EE. He took her home but dropped her off about a 100 yards fromher parents’ house so her parents would not know that she had been out withhim. They planned to meet the following evening at the amusement park.When they met the next day, EE suggested they immediately go to a motel;C thought that was “a good idea.” At the motel they quickly got undressed andhad intercourse and oral sex. The offender stated: “I couldn’t stand it that shewould have sex with me without even knowing me. I was real angry now, so Igrabbed her by the neck and put her on the floor. I was real angry, man. I putmy belt around her neck, and it broke. She passed out and didn’t die. She wasdizzy. I helped her get dressed. She kept saying, ‘Let’s go back to my girlfriend’sand get high.’ Actually, I didn’t think I did anything wrong.”After assaulting her in the motel room, EE drove C to a remote area because“I wanted to hurt her again. I was really angry. It had nothing to do with her;it was my whole life, so I beat her up. I kicked her. I left her. Nothing affectedme at this time. I had no feelings at the time for nobody.”Following the homicide, EE went to a gas station where “I saw blood on mypants.” He then drove to a bar and got cleaned up and went to his girlfriend’shouse where he was staying. He had a conversation with his girlfriend but lied toher regarding the sexual encounter and homicide. “I made up a story about cocainebecause if I told her the truth, there could have been another body.” EE had troublesleeping that night because he was thinking about what had happened.The next day, EE went back to the crime scene “because I was curious. Icovered her when I found her because I didn’t want to move her.” He then toldhis girlfriend that he had killed a young woman, “but I didn’t tell her we hadsex. I told her I left her there. I didn’t get rid of her. If I didn’t say nothing, Iwouldn’t be arrested. I’d be out there doing it again.” The girlfriend called thepolice, and EE was arrested.During the interview the offender revealed a tremendous amount of angertoward his biological mother whom he viewed as promiscuous. He was also angryat various foster parents, particularly one family who “got rid of me because I wet
