Energy management
The pulp and paper industry is one of
the most energy-intensive industrial
sectors. So it is all the more important
to discover every energy savings
potential in the meaning of the EN 16001
certification and to develop, evaluate
and implement suitable measures for
this.
Many individual measures were realised last
year without the need for any investment.
The LEAN ideas list deserves a special
mention here, but also the initiatives put
forward by the employees themselves.
Our training programme featured a special
course dealing with energy and which, in
addition to informing generally about
energy, also focussed on the energy saving
potentials inherent in conduct at work.
Every employee can sharpen his or her
awareness of where energy can be saved in
everyday working without risk or at the
expense of convenience.
Major energy savings
On the investments side, there is especially
the COD project which involves rebuilding of
the pulp sorting to achieve large energy
savings. All in all, we can be proud of our
success in energy savings for the financial
year 2011. With an energy saving of 3.6 %,
the factory target of achieving a 2 %
specific energy saving over the previous
year was clearly outperformed.
Selection of fuels is another issue given
careful consideration in Stockstadt. The
manufacturing process for liquid biomass
from pulping, so called lye, was examined
by TÜV Süd according to the REDcert
certification procedure and awarded the
corresponding certificate. This means that
the biomass can be used for generating
power from renewable sources.
