68Pension Disbursing Authority shall start paying family <strong>pension</strong> to widow. She willsimultaneously send an intimation of death of her husband to <strong>the</strong> Record Officer/AHQalong with a copy of death certificate and declaration as in Appendix X aboutemployment/non-employment of her husband.PAYMENT OF PENSION BY MONEY ORDERS88. (a) Payment of <strong>pension</strong> upto Rs. 2250/- p.m. plus dearness relief <strong>the</strong>reon whereadmissible may, at <strong>the</strong> request of <strong>the</strong> <strong>pension</strong>er, be remitted by postal money order at <strong>the</strong>cost of Government.(b) The provisions of clause (a) above shall apply only to <strong>pension</strong>ers paid throughTreasuries and Defence Pension Disbursing Office.UNDRAWN PENSION AND ARREARS89. (a) Unless <strong>the</strong> Government by general or special orders direct o<strong>the</strong>rwise, a<strong>pension</strong> remaining undrawn <strong>for</strong> more than a year, from Pension Disbursing Authoritieso<strong>the</strong>r than Defence Pension Disbursing Office shall cease to be payable by PensionDisbursing Authority. Defence Pension Disbursing Office may pay <strong>pension</strong> remainingundrawn upto a period of 3 years, if he is satisfied with <strong>the</strong> claimants’ explanation <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong>delay. If <strong>pension</strong>er afterwards appears or claim is presented on his behalf, <strong>the</strong> PensionDisbursing Authority may resume <strong>the</strong> payment of monthly <strong>pension</strong> accruing <strong>the</strong>reafter,but <strong>the</strong> arrears can be paid–(i) by <strong>the</strong> Pension Disbursing Authority himself if <strong>the</strong> amount of arrears doesnot exceed Rs. 10000/- provided that arrear do not represent <strong>pension</strong> to bepaid <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> first time.(ii) with <strong>the</strong> previous sanction of <strong>the</strong> Principal Controller of Defence Accounts(Pension) if <strong>the</strong> arrear exceeds Rs. 10000/-.Provided that if, in any case, a <strong>pension</strong> remain undrawn <strong>for</strong> three years or more,nei<strong>the</strong>r monthly <strong>pension</strong> payment shall be resumed, nor arrears could be paid without <strong>the</strong>authority of Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (Pensions). If <strong>the</strong> <strong>pension</strong>er reappearsto draw his <strong>pension</strong> he may be readmitted to <strong>the</strong> <strong>pension</strong>s establishment if heaccounts <strong>for</strong> his failure to draw <strong>the</strong> <strong>pension</strong> to <strong>the</strong> satisfaction of <strong>the</strong> Principal Controllerof Defence Accounts (Pensions), who may at his discretion, grant or withhold <strong>the</strong> arrearsof <strong>pension</strong> or any portion <strong>the</strong>re of.(b) A gratuity payment order shall remain in<strong>for</strong>ce <strong>for</strong> one year only and no suchorder shall be retained by a Pension Disbursing Authority, if payment has not been madeon it within a year of issue.Pension Regulations <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> Army, Part II (2008)
