70(c) Subject to <strong>the</strong> general conditions as per clause (a) above, claims to arrears of<strong>pension</strong> <strong>for</strong> a period upto three years in respect of deceased <strong>pension</strong>ers drawing <strong>pension</strong>from Defence Pension Disbursing Office shall be paid on his authority and arrears <strong>for</strong> aperiod over three years by <strong>the</strong> concerned Controller of Defence Accounts under whoseadministrative control <strong>the</strong> Defence Pension Disbursing Officers are functioning.(d) Claims to arrears of <strong>pension</strong> on account of deceased Gorkha <strong>pension</strong>ersdrawing <strong>pension</strong> from <strong>the</strong> following Pension Disbursing Authorities shall, however,subject to <strong>the</strong> general conditions as per clause (a) above, be disposed off by <strong>the</strong> officespecified below instead of Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (Pensions):Pension Paying Office Kathmandu; Military Attachée/ Assistant MilitaryAttachée to Indian Embassy at Nepal,Defence Pension Disbursing Office,GorakhpurDarjeeling TreasuryDarbhanga & Purnea TreasuriesKathmanduThe Recruiting Officer or DeputyRecruiting Officer or Record Office orAssistant Recruiting Officer <strong>for</strong>Gorkhas, Kunraghat (Gorakhpur)The Deputy Recruiting Officer orRecord Office or Assistant RecruitingOfficer Ghoom, Darjeeling.The Deputy Recruiting Officer and RecordOffice or Assistant Recruiting Officer,Ghoom or <strong>the</strong> Collectors Darbhanga andPurnea, as <strong>the</strong> case may be.Bahraich & Gonda TreasuriesPension Payment Officer Pokhara andDharanThe Recruiting Officer or DeputyRecruiting Officer and Record Office orAssistant Recruiting Officer <strong>for</strong>Gorkhas, Kunraghat (Gorakhpur) orDeputy Commissioner, Bahariach andGonda, as <strong>the</strong> case may be.Officer-in-charge of <strong>the</strong> respectivePension Payment Office.(e) When <strong>the</strong> exact date of a <strong>pension</strong>er’s death cannot be ascertained, <strong>the</strong>Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (Pensions) shall have <strong>the</strong> power to admitarrears of <strong>pension</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> entire month in which <strong>the</strong> casualty occurred, but when <strong>the</strong>month or year of death is not known, <strong>the</strong> payment of arrears shall be limited to a periodof one month.(f) In case of Gorkha <strong>pension</strong>ers, <strong>the</strong> certificates of death and heirship grantedby Mukhia of <strong>the</strong> Government of Nepal must be countersigned by MilitaryAttaché/Assistant Military Attache to <strong>the</strong> Indian Embassy, Nepal or <strong>the</strong> RecruitingOfficer, Deputy Recruiting Officer and Record Officer, or Assistant Recruiting Officer<strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> Gorkhas, Kunraghat or Ghoom, as <strong>the</strong> case may be.Pension Regulations <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> Army, Part II (2008)
