in its second year, the Campus Studio is already a thriving hub
for post-production and rough cut editing at the Campus.
The campus Studio focuses on improving films in the final
stage of production. The emphasis is on professionalising Talents’
working processes by providing access to technology and expertise
they may not normally have. The post-production Studio will introduce
Talents to the latest technology available for ingest and transfer,
editing, grading and mastering digital data. directors in the editing
Studio will be aided by outstanding editors in finding the optimal
dramatic cut for their films. The campus Studio will take place in
cooperation with The post republic, dffb and pictorion das werk.

Internationally acclaimed post-production experts Stefan
ciupek and dirk meier will coach Talents to work with the most up-todate
digital workflow equipment. more technology-heavy, the postproduction
Studio offers thirty Talents an in-depth look into the
practical techniques of filmmaking: shooting with digital cameras like
Sony ex3 and red One, followed by digital post-production processes
including editing, grading, mastering and data management. “This
interdisciplinary workshop offered a broad experience in post-production
integrated with shooting on several high-end Hd-cameras. It
was a gain in experience to share this with filmmakers from all over the
world, to get to know them better and to find friends. To work together
in teams and to have the pos sibilty to ask the technical experts specific
things on the subjects was very enriching”, said conny Beissler,
participant at the campus Studio 2009.
Campus Studio:
editing Studio
editing for weeks and not moving ahead? Internationally
renowned editors Bettina Böhler, menno Boerema, Yann dedet, katja
dringenberg, Susan korda and Gesa marten assist ten Talents in the
editing room, giving that little extra touch and valuable insights to
finalise their respective fiction and documentary short films. Talent
directors and editors will work with a campus Studio editor on the
rough cut of their short film or an excerpt of their feature film for one
entire day.

Talent Actors Stage

Confidence, originality, self-discipline: The brand-new hands-on
training of the Berlinale Talent Campus boosts actors skills.
The Berlinale Talent campus #8 offers participating actors a
new intensified hands-on programme in 2010, the Talent Actors Stage.
Offering a range of training opportunities for actors, from acting
techniques, dialogue training, to casting and camera acting, it also
provides interdisciplinary collaborations with other hands-on programmes
at the campus to facilitate networking with Talent directors,
producers and screenwriters.
Apart from enabling actors to improve their performance
working under the expert direction of professionals from the acting
field and from other film disciplines, the Talent Actors Stage aims to
give Talent actors more visibility within the campus and facilitate
networking with other film practioners.
The Talent Actors Stage comprises five main events:
”directing Actors“, the master class by internationally renowned
dutch actress johanna ter Steege, focuses on getting the best out
of actors while rehearsing and shooting a film. The session will concentrate
on intensifying the collaboration between directors and
actors from the actor’s viewpoint.
The workshop “embodying the character“, using the Alex ander
Technique to focus on body techniques, will be conducted by
acting coach, movement specialist and choreographer jean-Louis
rodrigue.
“casting Internationally“, an event organised in collaboration
with the european Film promotion, is where up-and-coming actors
meet casting experts from uSA and europe – Simone Bär, Fred roos,
Lina Todd – and German actress Heike makatsch, to gain an insight
into the international casting process and the cooperation between
directors and casting directors.
”I’m ready For my close-up: Actors camera Training Workshop“,
a cooperation with The Actors cut (edinburgh), Skillset, dffb
and Arri, offers a top-notch screen acting course guided by renowned
director of photography Tom Fährmann and course coordinators
Andrew and Gregory Byatt.
”rehearsed reading: Actors reading Scripts“ focuses on dialogue
training, with Talent Actors reading selected scenes from two
Script Station projects under the direction of script consultant and
former theatre director Alby james.
