QDS SERIESSmall Premium Dual Chamber Hardening/Tempering FurnacesAPPLICATIONSThe QDS Series Dual Chamber Heat Treating<strong>furnaces</strong> feature a 2350°F (1285°C) high heatchamber for hardening and a 1250°F (675°C)recirculating oven for tempering. Theover/under configuration saves floor space.The hardening furnace is mounted on topwith the tempering oven below. Agitated andheated <strong>quench</strong> <strong>tanks</strong> are optional (See pages28 & 31). The <strong>furnaces</strong> achieve high precisionby featuring highly accurate controls, mercurycontactors for fast cycle times, two zonecontrol (top and bottom) on the hardeningfurnace, and very even spacing of elements.The tempering oven features a fan andrecirculation muffle for high uniformity. TheQDS 124 is our most popular dual chamberfurnace. The furnace chamber construction issimilar to the XLB Series.FEATURESSIMILAR TO QD & XLB SERIESThe QDS <strong>furnaces</strong> are similar to the QDSeries except that they are smaller and thebrick is 2-1/2” thick instead of 4-1/2” thick(like XLB Series on page 4). There are alsoelements in the top of the hardeningchamber. The fan is belt driven with a 1/6 hpmotor. The hardening furnace door is aspring loaded swing up vertical door.The spring holds the door tightlyclosed, counterbalances it whileopening, and holds it up while open.The hot face of the door is kept awayfrom the operator. It has most of thesame options as the QD Series.HIGH TEMPERATURE UNIFORMITYThe hardening furnace is uniform to within+/-20°F(+/-11°C) above 1500°F (815°C). Thetempering oven is uniform to within +/-10°F(+/-5.5°C) above 300°F (150°C).QD 29Small Economical Dual Chamber Hardening/Tempering FurnaceA QDS 124 -our mostpopular dualchamber heattreatingfurnace.APPLICATIONSThe QD 29 Dual Chamber Heat Treatingfurnace features a 2275°F (1245°C) high heatchamber for hardening and a 1250°F (675°C)recirculating oven for tempering. Theover/under configuration saves floor space.The hardening furnace is mounted on topwith the tempering oven below. A roll away<strong>quench</strong> tank is optional. Controls are digital.The tempering oven features a fan andrecirculation muffle for high uniformity. Thisis the most economical dual chamber furnacein the QD line. It is a good basic all purposeheat treating system. The furnace chamberconstruction is similar to the HB Series.FEATURESSIDE MOUNTED ELEMENTSThe QD 29 furnace has side mountedelements, 2-1/2” brick with 2” back upinsulation.The fan is belt driven with a 1/6hp motor. The hardening furnace door isa spring loaded swing up vertical door.The spring holds the doortightly closed, counterbalancesit while opening, and holds it upwhile open. The hot face of thedoor is kept away from theoperator.
