The Intended Completion Date is the date on which it is <strong>in</strong>tended that the Contractor shall complete theWorks. The Intended Completion Date is specified <strong>in</strong> the Contract Data. The Intended Completion Datemay be revised only by the Eng<strong>in</strong>eer by issu<strong>in</strong>g an extension of time.Materials are all supplies, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g consumables, used by the contractor <strong>for</strong> <strong>in</strong>corporation <strong>in</strong> theWorks.Plant is any <strong>in</strong>tegral part of the Works which is to have a mechanical, electrical, electronic or chemicalor biological function.The Site is the area def<strong>in</strong>ed as such <strong>in</strong> the Contract Data.Site Investigation Reports are those which were <strong>in</strong>cluded <strong>in</strong> the <strong>Bid</strong>d<strong>in</strong>g documents and are factual<strong>in</strong>terpretative reports about the surface and sub-surface conditions at the site.Specification means the Specification of the Works <strong>in</strong>cluded <strong>in</strong> the Contract and any modification oraddition made or approved by the Eng<strong>in</strong>eer.The Start Date is given <strong>in</strong> the Contract Data. It is the date when the Contractor shall commenceexecution of the works. It does not necessarily co<strong>in</strong>cide with any of the Site Possession Dates.A Subcontractor is a person or corporate body who has a Contract with the Contractor to carry out apart of the work <strong>in</strong> the Contract which <strong>in</strong>cludes work on the Site.Temporary Works are works designed, constructed, <strong>in</strong>stalled, and removed by the Contractor which areneeded <strong>for</strong> construction or <strong>in</strong>stallation of the Works.A Variation is an <strong>in</strong>struction given by the Eng<strong>in</strong>eer which varies the Works.The Works are what the Contract requires the Contractor to construct, <strong>in</strong>stall, and turn over to theEmployer, as def<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong> the Contract Data.2. Interpretation2.1 In <strong>in</strong>terpret<strong>in</strong>g these Conditions of Contract, s<strong>in</strong>gular also means plural, male also means female orneuter, and the other way around. Head<strong>in</strong>gs have no significance. Words have their normal mean<strong>in</strong>gunder the language of the Contract unless specifically def<strong>in</strong>ed. The Eng<strong>in</strong>eer will provide <strong>in</strong>structionsclarify<strong>in</strong>g queries about the Conditions of Contract.2.2 If sectional completion is specified <strong>in</strong> the Contract Data, references <strong>in</strong> the Conditions of Contract to theWorks, the Completion Date, and the Intended Completion Date apply to any Section of the Works(other than references to the Completion Date and Intended Completion date <strong>for</strong> the whole of theWorks).2.3 The documents <strong>for</strong>m<strong>in</strong>g the Contract shall be <strong>in</strong>terpreted <strong>in</strong> the follow<strong>in</strong>g order of priority:(1) Agreement(2) Letter of Acceptance, notice to proceed with the works(3) Contractor’s <strong>Bid</strong>(4) Contract Data37
