“I travel a lot out of the city, both for work and to visit my mother…so I need a car with good fuel consumption and comfort.”After a stressful morning at the office I went to the banknear our office, parked my golden Honda Accord andwent into the bank to do some transactions.I am a lawyer and our law firm is just aroundthe corner. About 20 minutes later, I came outside to mygolden-coloured Honda, opened the door and sat in my Honda. Tomy shock, there was an old lady sitting behind who started yelling “Curikereta! Curi kereta!” Next thing I remember, I was whacked by the old lady’sumbrellanon-stop on the head. Shocked and frightened, I scrambled out of thecar immediately thinking that a mentally unstable person had somehow sneakedinto my car. The old lady too got out and continued screaming wildly, “Banyakjahat! Curi kereta!”A crowd immediately gathered around me looking menacingly at me. Withinseconds, a big-sized Chinese gentleman rushed to the scene and looked fiercely atme. I guess he didn’t whack me because I was neatly attired in black and whitelawyer’s grab. Thank God a police patrol arrived too within seconds at the scene.When the police asked what I was doing in someone else’s car, I said, “This is mycar.” “Apa nombor kereta, encik?” the police queried. I said, “WMP7773.” Thepoliceman checked the number and said, “Nombor kereta ini lain-lah, encik. Inibukan kereta awak! Salah masuk kereta.” To my shock, I realised that I hadgot into the wrong car by mistake. I explained to the car owner andpolice that I had made a terrible mistake and sincerelyapologised. They only believed my story when we walked to mycar less than 20 feet away and there it was, my belovedgold-coloured Honda WMP7773.Little did I ever imagine that one day I would get whacked byan umbrella because of a Honda. The moral of the story? Whenreturning to your car, please double check if there is more thanone Honda near your car – because all Honda’s look tempting tingto get into! (And not all old ladies are weak. Some can reallywhack, especially with an umbrella. The pain lastedalmost two weeks!!!)With the orang asli.“I can be a jerk sometimes, I admit.But what to do? That’s life,” he said.In his free time, if he isn’t lecturing orteaching tuition, he can often be foundvisiting orang asli villages.“The orang asli live in a hassle andstress-free environment. They can marryas many wives as they want and so theyhave many children, which is becoming aproblem,” he said with a cheeky smile.“Sometimes it makes me wonderabout the kind of world we live in, especiallyin the city where everybody is ateach other’s necks,” he said. “Just takethe LRT and you see the tense faces.”After owning a Proton for many years,Vijiarajan wanted a car that would be farmore comfortable.“When I saw the Honda Accord, I justhadto have it. It looked good, was comfortableand enjoyable to drive. I don’t have many friends, andso I usually just hang out with the few Ihave or just (sit) by myself. As a lawyerwho travels to the northern and southernstates often, I needed an executivecar that could handle my requirements.How would you describe the experienceof driving your Honda Accord?I enjoy driving it. The experience ismade even better as I play my SantanaCD. Both make a perfect combination.Have you encouraged anyone else topurchase a Honda Accord?Not really. I may have mentioned its pluspoints to some but I don’t have time tocheck and see if they did buy it. Theyare also friendly and try and solveproblems without hassle.
