The Alpine Lake Resort, whichfeatures an on-site motel for convenient andvalue-priced golf packages, was chosen by<strong>Golf</strong> Traveler magazine as being a top-50"scenic & friendly" destination in the U.S.The Mountaineer Region also boasts two<strong>of</strong> the top-rated private courses in the state.Pikewood National in Morgantown wasnamed the “Best New Private Course inAmerica” when it opened in 2009 and iscurrently ranked 3rd in the state by <strong>Golf</strong>Digest. The Pete Dye Club in Bridgeport isnamed “Best in State” by <strong>Golf</strong> Digest and it’sthe only course in <strong>West</strong> <strong>Virginia</strong> on GOLFMagazine’s 2011 ranking <strong>of</strong> the “Top 100Courses in the U.S.” Other accolades for thecourse include being ranked 10th on<strong>Golf</strong>Week’s “Top 100 Modern Courses” andlanding at number 45 on “America’s 100Greatest Courses” by <strong>Golf</strong> Digest in 2011.The Pete Dye Club was built on 250 acresatop and around a reclaimed coal mine.
