And the golf <strong>of</strong>feringsin this northeastern part <strong>of</strong> the state are justas varied and provocative.The casual Woods Resort in Hedgesvillefeatures two scenic 18-hole courses, a spa,restaurant, and on-site condos. TheMountain View course wanders around awooded plateau along Third Hill Mountainwhich dominates its views. Carved from aforest, Mountain View's fairways are framedby dogwood, maple, oak, and pine trees.Most holes play flat and fair, but severalwater hazards and the medium-sized greensprove challenging. The most difficult holeis number 6, a 415-yard, par 4, requiringan approach shot over a canyon to awell-bunkered green. The Mountain Viewcourse rates 4 stars from <strong>Golf</strong> Digest’s Placesto Play, an annual survey <strong>of</strong> subscribers,considered one <strong>of</strong> the most reliable ratingsources in the industry.
