BEACH GROVE GOLF CLUB PACE OF PLAY PROGRAMiGOLF – TEE TIME BOOKING SYSTEMOn The CourseIn the interest of all, players should play without undue delay. At Beach Grove the expected paceof play for 18 holes is 4 hours or less for the 1st hour of the day and no more than 4 hours and 10minutes there after. The object of encouraging a proper PACE OF PLAY is to maximize ALL players’enjoyment of the golf course. Here are some “Tips” for proper PACE.• Set an even pace to avoid speedups and slowdowns.• Be aware of your on-course position relative to 4 hours.WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT to ensure the success of our PACE OF PLAY PROGRAMThe intention of the Program is to ensure members are more accountable on an EVERYDAY basis. We need your support and willingness to participate by the same rules as you expect of otherMembers.Top 10 Rules for a Well Paced Game1) Arrive at least 15 minutes early for your tee time.2) Play the tee markers that are best suited to your game.3) All players walk independently to their own balls4) Make decisions regarding club selection, pin placement, wind etc. while traveling to your ball.5) Take only the required amount of time to look for lost balls.6) Players MUST hit when ready.7) Leave golf bags at a point beside the green that is enroute to the next tee.8) Mark scorecards while others are teeing off9) Be “Time Efficient” while at the Bistro area10) Simply, keep up to the group ahead of youPlayers AssistantsIn order to affect results, the Board of Directors has given the Players Assistant authority to use thefollowing “Tools” in order to remedy situations on the golf course. The Players Assistant will:• Advise the players (group) of their position on the course, relative to time and group ahead.• Given the players (group) a chance to improve pace or “Voluntarily Wave Through”a following group• Insist on a “Mandatory Wave Through” of the following group• “Move a Group” to a position immediately following the group ahead• Report the players (group) to the Professional and Club Captain for review in the event of noncompliance. Please note that an uninterrupted drive around the golf course takes approximately 25-30 minutes! If you encounter a problem on course and the Players Assistant is not present, resolution may onlybe possible through personal intervention. Please intervene in a diplomatic manner; if approacheddon’t consider it offensive! Remember... you are out to play golf and have fun!HANDICAP COMMITTEE“Why do I need a handicap if I don’t plan to play in any tournaments?”A handicap enables golfers of differing abilities to compete on an equitable basis. This may be afriendly game with fellow members, a less serious fun event, or joining a more structured groupto meet other people. A lot of players like to maintain a handicap so they can monitor their ownpersonal play; in other words, they simply want to “play against themselves”.How is a handicap calculated? Simply stated, a handicap factor is based on the best 10 scores ofthe last 20 rounds. It’s meant to reflect a player’s potential. Statistically, a player usually only shootsa score near their potential one out of six games. Each golf course has a slope and rating basedon the course’s degree of difficulty. A chart located by the computer in the Golf Shop is used toconvert a handicap factor to a course handicap. If you have an established handicap from another Club using the RCGA Handicap Network, let theGolf Shop know. Your scoring history can be transferred to Beach Grove. If you play out of morethan one Club or League, again let the Golf Shop know and maintenance can be done so that youonly have to post your score once, resulting in your factor and course handicap being availableautomatically by both groups. If you are a novice or experienced player with no handicap, the Golf Shop will set you up on theRCGA Handicap Network. You can provide previous scores or start entering scores as you play.It takes 5 games to start a handicap factor. There are several resources available at your fingertips if you use the Internet: the members sectionof the Beach Grove website (under Rules & HCP for tips, procedures and past Newsletter articles),the RCGA Handicap Network (such as how to determine your Equitable Stroke Control whenposting your course, how your factor was calculated, on-line manuals - Handicap, Rules of Golf,Decisions of Golf). If you have questions or require assistance, the following individuals are available: Golf Professionals,Captains, Club Handicap Committee Members, and (additionally for women) the Business andTuesday HCP Committees. This user friendly and transparent tee time booking system allows youto both create and manage your tee time bookings.
