Pupils Transferring from High to Upper School
Autumn Term 2012
Parents of Year 9 should have reserved a place for their child at an upper school by the 31
October 2012. If they fail to meet this deadline, and the school is full, a place may be
allocated to their child at a school which is in fact out of the catchment area. The date is the
same for Year 6 pupils transferring to the High School in September 2013.
School Fund
Education is expensive and we budget as carefully as we can. The School Fund helps to meet a
number of special initiatives that cannot be financed out of public funds. We hope for the
support of every parent/carer. We ask for a donation of £5 per family per year at the start of
the academic year. School Fund is used in a variety of ways which includes:
Subscriptions to a range of sports
Refreshments, prizes, decorations, hire of equipment
 Supplementary resources to departments
Administration of Medicines
(AS PER LOCAL AUTHORITY CODE OF PRACTICE)
No medicine can be administered to a pupil unless clear written instructions to do so have been
obtained from parents or carers.
Medicine should be brought in to school by parents/carers only not
pupils. Parents/carers will be required to complete a General Care
Plan (green form) giving permission to dispense and details of the
administration of the medicine.
All medicines must be stored in a locked cabinet accessed only by
designated members of staff. All medicines must be clearly labelled
with the child’s name, mode of administration (oral, etc.), dosage,
frequency and the name of medication being given. Parents/carers
must take responsibility to update the school of any changes to
administration or routine.
If a child has diabetes, a supply of glucose (gel, tablets, drink, food etc.) should be provided by
parents/carers and kept in school for treatment of hypoglycaemic attacks.
