A holiday taken without authorisation will be recorded as unauthorised. A holiday request form
needs to be completed and authorised well in advance of a holiday being taken. Please ask your
child to collect one of these forms from the office. Holiday requests may be refused if your
child has a poor attendance record or if tests are taking place at the time of the holiday.
Your child’s attendance is monitored weekly. If attendance is less than 90%, parents will receive a
letter expressing concern. If the attendance level continues to fall, a second letter will be sent
asking for medical evidence of illnesses. For frequent unauthorised absences we will invite parents
in for a meeting. For continued unauthorised absences where medical evidence is not provided or
pupils refuse to attend school a fine will be issued by the Local Authority on recommendation by
the school and will result in a pupil’s place on any school trip being put in jeopardy.
Finally, we appreciate a certain amount of lateness is unavoidable where school buses are
concerned, but pupils must ensure that they complete a late arrival slip if they have been
marked late at registration. This also applies to afternoon registration, should pupils be late
because of lunchtime sporting activities etc. If this is unavoidable they must complete a blue
late slip at Reception.
Telephone Messages
If you need the school to convey a message (urgent messages only) to your child can you please
ensure that you contact the school office by 2.30pm. After this time it can not be guaranteed
that messages will be relayed.
A reminder to parents and carers, especially those new to the school, about our automated
telephone system. When you call the school on 0116 2792238 you will be given a list of options.
Please listen carefully to these options so that calls and messages are filtered through to the
right departments. If you are not sure then wait until the end of the message and press ‘0’ to
speak to reception.
Safety Notice
As per our School Travel Plan the school have installed ‘Pupil Safety’ notices at both the Main
Car Park Entrance and the Sports Hall Car Park Entrance. These notices instruct parents that
U-turns should not be done in these areas. The School Travel Plan can be viewed on the school
website http://www.kibworthhigh.leics.sch.uk/downloads/ under the Information section. If
parents wish to pick up their children by car at the end of the school day, please can they do so
from the Sports Hall car park. This avoids congestion with the buses.
