Where a part is required which has one or more attribute(s)that are non standard, e.g. capacitance/tolerance, case type, print detail, sleeve type & marking, bar code labelling, reduced ESR, etc.,a customer special part number is assigned. In the simplest case, a special part may differ from a standard part by having the customerpart number on the print detail.
