—To create European networks able to present examples of goodpractice, encouraging innovation and quality in the jointreflection and exchange, also for other disciplines.—To develop and exchange information in relation to thedevelopment of curricula in the selected areas, and develop amodel curriculum structure expressed in reference points foreach area, enhancing the recognition and European integrationof diplomas.—To build bridges between this network of universities and otherappropriate qualified bodies in order to produce convergence inthe selected subject areas.—To elaborate a methodology for analysing common elements andareas of specificity and diversity, and for finding ways to tunethem.—To associate with other subject areas where a similar process canbe incorporated through synergy.—To act in a co-ordinated manner with all the actors involved inthe process of tuning educational structures, in particular theBologna follow-up group, Ministries of Education, Conferencesof Rectors (including the EUA), other associations (as EURASHE),Quality Assurance Organisations and Accreditation Bodies, aswell as universities.From the aims and objectives the step can be made to the differentlines of approach that has been developed. As stated before, four linesare distinguished: generic competences, subject specific competences,new perspectives on ECTS as an accumulation and transfers sytem andapproaches to teaching and learning, assessment and performance andquality. As part of line 1 the significant features of the Tuning approachare explained.26
