It is generally referred to as the degree awarded after completionof third cycle studies.ECTS (European Credit Transfer System)A system for increasing the transparency of educational systems andfacilitating the mobility of students across Europe through credit transfer.It is based on the general assumption that the global workload of anacademic year of study is equal to 60 credits. The 60 credits are thenallocated to course units to describe the proportion of the studentworkload required to achieve the related LEARNING OUTCOMES. Credittransfer is guaranteed by explicit agreements among the homeinstitution, the host institution and the mobile student.Elective courseA course to be chosen from a predetermined list.ExamNormally formal written and/or oral test taken at the end of a course unitor later in the academic year. Other assessment methods are also in use.Tests within the course unit are classed as CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT.First degreeFirst HIGHER EDUCATION qualification taken by the student. It is awardedafter the successful completion of first CYCLE studies which, accordingto the Bologna Declaration, should normally last a minimum of threeyears or 180 ECTS credits.GradeA final evaluation based on the overall performance in the PROGRAMMEOF STUDY.Graduate or Postgraduate studiesA course of study following a FIRST DEGREE and leading to a SECONDDEGREE.Grant or Scholarship or FellowshipPayment made to some or all students to cover fees and/or livingexpenses.
