From the Campus PrincipalsWelcome backA warm and sincere “Welcome Back” isextended to all members of the Kings Parkcampus community in 2012. Our studentsand teachers have re-engaged with theirlearning and teaching in an immediate,excited and most importantly, committedmanner.The campus has been operating at a freneticpace from day one with Year 7’s familiarisingthemselves with secondary schoolingand preparing for the upcoming camp,Swimming sports, Parent Information evenings,Year 7 and 10 Immunisations, ChallengeDay activities for Year 9’s and therolling out of netbook computers for ourYear 7, 9 and 10 students! Did we everhave a break? Seriously, it has been a greatteam effort by all – teachers, students andparents. Thank you. Speaking of a teameffort, another expression of gratitude mustgo to all who have supported our new UniformImplementation Policy. A committedteam of staff and parents put in a great dealof time and effort over the last year or so torevamp and tighten the policy. With supportfrom both teachers and parents that wehave had, the policy is starting to pay dividends.We have received several complimentsfrom teachers and parents about theeven more positive look of our school environment.Let’s all support the policy andkeep up the standard. Once again, welcomeback to all. We wish you a happy,healthy and productive 2012.Staff changesIn 2012, we welcome two new teachers tothe <strong>Copperfield</strong> <strong>College</strong> (Kings Park) family.Ms. Claudia Biancone and Ms. AsumiMatsuzaki are teachers of Italian and Japaneserespectively here at the Kings Parkcampus. Both are passionate teachers oftheir language and we wish them a successfulcareer in teaching and at <strong>Copperfield</strong><strong>College</strong>.Ms. Biancone has replaced Ms. CaterinaNelson who retired at the end of last yearand Ms. Matsuzaki has replaced Mr. Tamurawho accepted a position at Haileybury<strong>College</strong>. We wish them all the very bestfor the future.As is the case with multi campus schools,each year there are intra college staff movements.This year, Mr. Eliseo Centorrino,Ms. Ranjeni Kumar and Ms. Joanne Kellyjoin us after teaching at the Delahey seniorcampus. Mr. Paul Volpato joins us fromthe Sydenham campus. Welcome aboardto you all. We are sure that the Kings Parkcampus will be the beneficiary of yourteaching experiences at the other campuses.Leaving the Kings Park campus at the endof last year for the Delahey campus wereMs. Jude Ryan, Mr. Michael Parnham andMr. Jim Konjarski. We thank them fortheir great service to the Kings Park campusand wish them all the best at our seniorcampus.CongratulationsIt always gives us a great delight to spruikthe achievements of our students. Thisyear, the following Year 7 students havebeen awarded a <strong>Copperfield</strong> <strong>College</strong>Scholarship. Congratulations to Atif Talatand Somi Akhter (Academic Excellence)and Abenezer Tegegn (Performing Arts)for successfully meeting all the criteria intheir chosen category. A formal presentationwill be held for all successful recipientsand their families on Friday 24 Februaryat the Delahey campus. <strong>Copperfield</strong><strong>College</strong> wishes you a successful futureboth here at the school and beyond. WellDone!Congratulations are also passed on to ourStudent Of The Year 2011, RosaAlacevska. Issue No.1Page 4C Team ReportWelcome to the new year, and for some, a new team.I would like to welcome our new Year 9 students to C team. This is the start of a fast, fun,enjoyable and enriching two year period.We are now well under way into Term 1, and already so much has happened. I would liketo extend a thank you to the parents, carers and families who attended the 9 & 10 informationnight.Congratulations to all C-teamers on their participation and attendance at the <strong>College</strong>Swimming Carnival. It was fantastic to see our students support each other and to wearthe team colours with pride.As is the case each year for our Year 9, Challenge Day has begun. Coming up will be anumber of mini and major challenges, focusing on our students working together to overcomechallenges and fears. This promises to be a fantastic subject, allowing our studentsto develop their independence and leadership. Watch this space for upcoming reports onsome of the excursions that have taken place.I would like to take a moment to remind all students, parents and carers of the upcomingevents affecting C Team this term.Photos are coming up on the Wednesday 29 February. Please make sure to bring yourorder form and the correct money on the day.Following on, the Term 1 Parent Teacher interviews are being held on Wednesday 27March. I would urge all families to attend as this is a valuable way to make contact withyour child’s home group and classroom teachers. I would also appreciate the opportunityto meet with you. Issue No.1Page 5L Team ReportWelcome all staff, students and parents to a new year at <strong>Copperfield</strong> <strong>College</strong>. I wouldalso like to welcome Year 7 students to L Team. It’s great to see everyone in the newschool uniform eager to learn.Just recently we had the Swimming Carnival in which many L Team students participated.A big thank you and congratulations to the students who took part in and gave it allthey have. Thank you to all students and parents who attended the Information Eveningon the same night. After a big day of competing, the night was well supported.With Term 1 well underway, the students have many things to look forward to in the upcomingweeks. Year 7 camp on 27 and 28 February will allow the students to form positiverelationships with their peers and teachers and help build leadership skills.They also have the rollout of notebooks to look forward to on 23 February parents andstudents can collect their notebooks from 3:30pm until 7pm. Parents need to ensure theybring all the necessary paperwork signed on this day.All Year 7 and 8 students have now been given forms for the school photo day. Studentsneed to ensure the exact money is in the envelope for the day on 29 February.Parent teacher interviews are in the final week of term, on the 27 March. Letters and interviewrequest forms will be sent out closer to the date. This is a good opportunity forparents to discuss the progress of their child and address any issues that may have arisen.As you can see, Term 1 is full of important dates to jot down. As you would be aware our 2012 WEP is optional and is offeredto all interested Year 10 students. Students who choose to do so select one week fromfive different weeks allocated throughout the year to undertake their work experience in afield of their choice.Work experience is an interesting and rewarding opportunity and I encourage every student,when given the opportunity, to take on and enjoy the challenges of the world ofwork. I therefore hope that all of our Year 10 students interested in benefitting fromwork experience will follow my advice and look to secure a meaningful placement forone of our five allocated weeks in our 2012 WEP.Just a reminder that all Kings Park Work Experience Forms (orange forms) are to behanded to me 6 weeks prior to the start of your work placement.
