From the Campus PrincipalsWelcome BackWe extend a warm welcome to our newand returning families for <strong>2012</strong>. It hasbeen a productive start to the academicyear with all classes operating a fulltimetable from week 1.We congratulate all students for settlingback in to school routine and diligentlygetting on with learning. The generalatmosphere of classrooms, the libraryand study centre and the yard has beenpositive and we expect it to continue inthis way as the year progresses. This year for thefirst time <strong>Copperfield</strong> at all year levels will be participating in chessinterschool competitions. Last year a small team from Delahey campusentered a competition in Term 4 to familiarise themselves with thetournament format. This year they will be teaching other students howto play competition chess. Chess captains for <strong>2012</strong> are Nur RaudhaRozali and Stephanie Dimopoulos and they will be leading the team toone competition per term and perhaps even the finals! All students arewelcome to play, beginners to advanced. The first tournament is onThursday March 15 at Brighton Grammar. Further information will becoming to all campuses. She heads our <strong>College</strong> Wellbeing Team.Judy is available to students who wish to consult her about a wide range of personalconcerns. These concerns frequently involve relationship issues, deaths and illnesses ofloved ones, school motivation problems, learning and concentration difficulties, mood andbehaviour regulation, and sleep disturbance. Other issues less frequently raised includeinternet, cigarette smoking, and drug and alcohol control, homelessness, depression,anxiety, suicidal thoughts, anger management, gender identity, bullying. Consultations withJudy are confidential unless there is a risk of self‐harm or harm to others, or the student isnot the subject of abuse, in which case appropriate disclosures will be made to ensuresafety. Referrals can be made to other agencies, should that appear to be warranted.Appointments are made with Judy directly or through the General Office.
