For Families of Fostered and Adopted ChildrenOur PlaceWhat is this programme?Our Place is a centre <strong>for</strong> families who foster and adopt. Any family who has at leastone child who is looked after or adopted may come with the whole family to OurPlace. Understanding that foster and adoptive families have many extra challengesthat arise when children have moved homes and schools, we provide support,workshops and activities <strong>for</strong> children and their families. Our Place is a friendly settingwhere difficulties are accepted as part of family life. You can expect understanding,empathy and non-judgmental concern <strong>for</strong> whatever is troubling your family.Workshops in early childhood development, family-supportive strategies, specialneeds education and understanding children with learning and living difficulties areavailable to professionals as well as to families.Where are the programmes delivered?139 Fishponds Road, Eastville, Bristol. On a regular basis, these include After<strong>School</strong> activities, a Tots’ group, Educational tuition, Half Term and Holiday sessions,as well as special workshops such as:• Parenting Late Teens• Inter Country Adoption• Grieving: Loss and Separation• Speech and Language in Young Children• Issues of Attachment• Learning Disorders in the Adopted/Looked After Child• Attention Disorders in the Adopted/Looked After ChildSession DetailsOur Place sends out a bulletin at the end of every term with details of ourworkshops, seminars and activities.
