For women onlyThe Freedom ProgrammeWhat is it?The Freedom Programme is a 12 week in<strong>for</strong>mation giving group <strong>for</strong> women. It is runas a rolling programme which means you can join at any point. The benefits are thesame as long as you complete 12 weeks. The programme is free and there are freecrèche places at all day programmes.Who is it <strong>for</strong>?The Freedom Programme is open to any woman who wishes to learn more about thereality of domestic abuse.What are its aims?• To help women to understand the beliefs held by abusive men and in sodoing, recognise which of these beliefs they have shared.• To show the effects of domestic abuse on children.• To help women to recognise potential future abusers.• To help women to gain self esteem and the confidence to improve the qualityof their lives.• To introduce women to community resources such as Specialist DomesticAbuse Services and on going learning/ employment opportunities.Where is it?The Freedom Programme is run from several venues across Bristol during the dayand evening. All courses are open to women from any area.Content of the programme:Each session is one and a half hours. The programme identifies the beliefs andbehaviours of abusive people, explores the origins of these beliefs and recognisesthe impact of this on women.
