Barnardo’s Parenting Services in BristolThe following services are delivered from Barnardo’s centres in North, South andEast/Central Bristol. The contact details <strong>for</strong> each areNorth - Home Farm, Kingsweston Lane, Lawrence Weston, BS11 0JE, tel 9824578.South - 237 – 239 Gatehouse Avenue, Withywood, BS13 9AQ, tel 978 2441East and Central - 114 Whitehall Road, Easton, BS5 9BH, tel 955 1703Community Family Worker ServiceThis is a city wide service, delivering an outreach service to families with childrenaged 0 – 5 on behalf on Bristol’s Children’s Centres. It targets hard to reach familieswho do not use existing children / family support services and provides individuallytailored packages of support to families to increase parenting capacity. Referrals canbe made by anyone directly to the service.Specialist Family <strong>Support</strong> behalf of Children’s CentresBristol North and South:<strong>Support</strong> work with families where parents with 0 – 5 year olds have a learningdifficulty. Individually tailored support in their homes and in the communityand group work are offered.Bristol North:Services to children with additional needs (mild to moderate disability orlearning difficulty) and their families, where children aged 0 – 5.Bristol North Domestic Abuse service to women and children living withdomestic abuse. Again this is a combination of group work and individualfamily support at home and in the community.Bristol South:Breast feeding support – supports mothers to start and maintain breastfeeding. The project also develops peer support <strong>for</strong> breast feeding mums.<strong>Support</strong> Group <strong>for</strong> Black and multi racial families. This project providessupport and facilitates a group <strong>for</strong> black and multi racial families living inisolated settings.One to one, couple and family work with families who have complex needs.Family Group Conferences (South)FGC’s are commissioned by Bristol City Council CYPS <strong>for</strong> families from across thecity who are at risk of having children go into care or are the subject of a childprotection plan and families in touch with Bristol City Council’s Family InterventionProjects. FGC’s are a family led meeting in which the family devise a plan to addressan identified problem which they face.Prison Work (Central and East)Barnardo’s have a worker based in Bristol Prison, working with fathers to encouragemore frequent and meaningful contact with their family and children. This is donethrough PEEP work and individual support to prisoners and their families.January 2009
