Events before Birth of Imam AS 25Falsehood is (by its nature) bound to perish.’” 1 Hazrat ShaikhDaniyal RZ , 2 who was a resident of Jaunpur, heard it. Later, thenews of the idols falling headlong reached him too. At this theShaikh RZsaid, “Today a powerful and superior person is born.”When he started a search, he found that a baby was born in thehouse of Hazrat Syed Abdullah RA . Then he met Hazrat SyedAbdullah RZ and sought the details of the birth of a son in his house.Hazrat Syed Abdullah RA said that when the baby emerged from themother’s womb, it was clean of blood and filth. It had covered itsprivate parts with its tiny hands. When it was covered with a cloth,it would withdraw its hands. Even now the situation is the same. When the clothes are removed from its body, it covers its privateparts again with its hands. Its voice makes the listeners fall into adivine ecstasy. Whoever listens to its crying, gets frozen and doesnot move a step further.” The Shaikh RZ asked about the naming ofthe baby. Miran Syed Abdullah RA told the Shaikh RZ , “During thenight I saw Hazrat Prophet Muhammad SLMin my dream and hesaid, ‘We have named the baby after our own name.’ Hence, on thebasis of these glad tidings, we are calling him Syed Muhammad.”Then the Shaikh RZ asked, “How is its complexion?” Miran SyedAbdullah RA said, “It has a bright forehead, a high nose and joinedeyebrows. The complexion is of the colour of wheat. The Shaikh RZcongratulated Miran Syed Abdullah RA and took leave of him. Quitesometime later the Shaikh RZ asked Miran Syed Abdullah RA , “Whatpatronymic appellation have you given the baby?” MiranAbdullah RA said, “The name of my grandfather was Syed Qasimand we have given the patronymic appellation Abul Qasim to thebaby. The Shaikh RZ asked, “How is the talk and behaviour of thebaby?” Miran Abdullah RA said, “It appears to be in conformity withthe Shariat of Hazrat Prophet Muhammad SLM . It is very difficult to1 Quran, S.17: 81 AYA.2 Hazrat Shaikh Daniyal RZ has been described as: Murshid-e-Zaman [SpiritualTeacher of the Time], Makhzan-e-Irfan [Treasury of Gnosis], Pir-e-Shariat-o-Tariqat [Preceptor of the Islamic Code of Law and a religious devotee],Ustad-e-Haqiqat-o-Ma’rifat [Teacher of Divine Reality and DivineKnowledge], Barguzida-e-La-Yazal [Chosen of (eternal) God].26Shawahid Al-Vilayatdescribe it. Some of its qualities and attributes appear to bestrange. Its shadow and excreta are not visible. There appears to besomething like a seal on its back.” After listening to all this, anidea occurred in the mind of the Shaikh RZ that this was the time ofthe appearance of the Mahdi; maybe this boy is the Mahdi al-Mau'ood AS . The Shaikh RZagain congratulated Miran SyedAbdullah RA and took his leave.Hazrat Imam Muhammad Mahdi AS , Seal of the Sainthood ofProphet Muhammad SLM , has said, “When I was born, Allah MostHigh commanded me, ‘O Syed Muhammad! Stake your claim toMahdiship and invite the people unto Us.’ This banda [servant]assimilated it and submitted, ‘O Allah! Hazrat Esa AS had staked hisclaim in a similar situation and many people went astray. Thatshould not happen. The possibility is that the ummah of ProphetMuhammad SLM might not accept me and it might fall a prey to afitna [tumult].’”It is narrated that when the elder brother of Hazrat Imam-e-Aakhiraz-ZamanAS [Leader of the Last Era, that is, Imam Mahdi AS ], theBarguzida-e-Samad [Chosen of God], Miran Syed Ahmad wasborn, an elderly person, who might be capable of distributing theDivine Bounty, appeared near the house of Miran Syed Abdullahand sent a glass of milk through somebody into the house askingthat the new-born should be made to drink it and see whether itassimilated it or vomited, and that they should inform him of it.Miran Syed Ahmad vomited it. When informed of it, the elderlyperson said, “This is not the baby we are inquisitive about.” Afterthe birth of the Imam AS too, the same elderly person came with aglass filled with milk and repeated the same glad tidings. But thistime, Allah Most High made the Imam ASassimilate it. Wheninformed of the assimilation, the elderly person expressed hisimmense happiness and said, “This is the baby we were in searchof for a long time. Now Allah Most High has manifested it.”Immediately after that the elderly person disappeared. It is provedfrom an often-repeated narrative that the elderly person was HazratKhwaja Khizr AS .
Events before Birth of Imam AS 27When the time for the baby [Hazrat Imam AS ] to talk arrived, thefirst words that he uttered were, “Mahdi al-Mau'ood has come.”Later, the baby often repeated the same words.A narrative is famous that religious education was imparted in theschool of Bandagi Miyan Hazrat Makhdoom Shaikh Daniyal RZ andMiran Syed Ahmad used to attend the classes therein. One day theShaikh RZ asked Miran Syed Ahmed to bring his younger brotherwith him. But the latter forgot it. Then the Shaikh RZ repeatedly andinsistently asked him to bring the younger brother. At last, one dayit so happened that Miran Syed Ahmad brought his youngerbrother to the school. When the Shaikh RZ saw the Imam AS he got upfrom his seat, came out for some distance, accompanied him backwith great respect to his own seat, made him sit beside himself andentertained him [Hazrat Imam Mahdi AS ] to a feast. When theImam AS asked for his leave to return home, the Shaikh RZrespectfully and affectionately came walking with and talking tothe Imam AS . The Shaikh RZ was very happy at meeting the Imam ASas if he had achieved the vision of Allah Most High. When MiranSyed Ahmad saw all this courtesy and hospitality showered on hisyounger brother, he asked the Shaikh RZ , “I am the elder brother ofSyed Muhammad. You never showed this much of happiness atseeing me. You never showed me the respect you have shown tohim. Why is it so?” The Shaikh RZ said, “This brother of yours is agreat man. You do not know the glory and exaltation Allah hasbestowed on him. You will know it later, Allah willing. I too willtell you the reality about your brother.”One day, when Miran Syed Ahmad and the Imam AS were presentwith Bandagi Makhdoom Shaikh Daniyal RZ , a dignified personradiating the divine bounty, his forehead manifesting his virtuouslife, appeared at the school. The Shaikh RZ welcomed him with greatrespect and engaged in talking to him. Some questions came underdiscussions between them. The Shaikh RZ bade him farewell withgreat affection and respect. Then the Shaikh RZ asked Miran SyedAhmad, “Who was this elderly man who had just come?” MiranSyed Ahmad said, “I do not know.” Then the Shaikh RZ respectfullyturned towards the Imam AS and asked Hazrat Imam Mahdi AS , “Now28Shawahid Al-Vilayattell me who this elderly person was?” The Imam AS said, “KhwajaKhizr AS .” Then the Shaikh RZtold Miran Syed Ahmad, “O SyedAhmad! This is the reason why we give so much respect to youryounger brother.” It is said that after this Miran Syed Ahmad toostarted to be respectful and affectionate towards his brother. KnowO Musaddiq! These are the events that preceded the TasmiyahKhwani, the ceremony to begin the education of a child. When the age of the Imam AS was four years and four months, hisfather Bandagi Miran Syed Abdullah organised a grand functionand a feast with pomp and fanfare for the Tasmiah Khwani of theImam AS . He sent word to Hazrat Shaikh Daniyal RZto come andperform the ceremony by reciting the name of God. When thepeople assembled and all the notables of Jaunpur had arrived, theShaikh RZ too came. He made the Imam AS sit on a chair. Meanwhile,Hazrat Khwaja Khizr AS too arrived. The Imam AS recognized himand stood up in reverence. The guests wondered in whose honourthe Imam AS had stood up. When the Shaikh RZ raised his head fromhis meditation, he found that the Khwaja AS was among the guests. He came near the seat of the Imam AS and sat down on the floor.Addressing the Khwaja AS , he said, “Please make the Imam AS recitethe Bismillah.” The Khwaja AS said, “Allah, the Lord of Glory, hascommanded me, “Our Mahboob [Most Loved] will reciteBismillah [In the name of Allah]. You go there and say, ‘Ameen.’”Hence, the Shaikh RZ prompted the Imam AS to recite Bismillah andthe Khwaja AS said, ‘Ameen’ at the end of the recitation. After thisMiran Syed Ahmad started taking his brother to the schoolregularly. O People of Justice! When the truth of the Mahdi isproved from these events, what more evidence do you need? Seethe Command of Allah: Then which of the favours of your Lordwill ye deny? 11 Quran, S. 55: 16 AYA.
