At Ahmadabad 81zati [of the essence and nature], and the third among them, MiyanMalik Burhanuddin RZ , is sifati [of the attributes]. His ability was sogreat that though Hazrat Imam AScalled Bandagi Miyan ShahNizam RZas Darya-e-Wahdat Asham [the drinker of the oceans],there is a narrative [that throws some light on the greatness ofMalik Burhanuddin RZ .] It is narrated that there was somediscussion between Bandagi Miyan Shah Nizam RZand BandagiMiyan Malik Burhanuddin RZ . Bandagi Miyan Shah Nizam RZ said,“Miyan Burhanuddin! Beware! You are stepping into the ocean.”Malik Burhanuddin RZ replied, “Yes Bandagi Miyan Shah Nizam RZ !What you consider to be an ocean [is known]. This banda drinksseven such oceans [of Divinity] in one gulp and the upper lip doesbecome wet.” At last, this discussion was reported to Hazrat ImamMahdi AS . Hazrat Imam ASsaid, “Yes! What Malik Burhanuddin RZsays is correct. It is as he says.”It is narrated that the son of the Imam AS , Hazrat Bandagi MiranSyed Mahmood RZ , had written about the Khilafat of Miyan Malik RZin a letter to Miyan Abu Bakr RZ , “Miyan Malik Burhanuddin wasresiding at a village. There are some people staying with him. Theytoo are like him.”Further, it is narrated that Bandagi Miyan Malikji Mehri RZ , son ofBandagi Miyan Khwaja Taha RZ , has written an elegy in theremembrance of Miyan Malik Burhanuddin RZ : “Another personwho was more special and who was the leader, who had beenliberated from the cage of the nafs [lust, concupiscence]; he wasthe servant of the king of the brave [Imam AS ]. He was the argumentof the religion, the proof of the religion. He was the witness of theking of the religion. His name, Burhanuddin, is famous. He sharedhis opinion with Hazrat Umar RZ in the eminence of the Truth. Hewas with the sword in hand where the enemies [of the religion]were concerned. He was venturesome in the expanse of DivineLove. He sacrificed his head against the enemy of Divine Love.When he met an old man, he made him young. He made animpotent a potent. He got the supplications of the souls that wereperpetual.”82Shawahid Al-VilayatThe Khilafat of Malik Burhanuddin RZ lasted for five years after thedeath of Hazrat Imam Mahdi AS . He died in 915 AH. Hazrat Mehri RZhas extracted the chronogram of his death in the followingcouplets: “He is among the six special successors of the Imam AS .Malik Burhanuddin is the loved one of the Haq [Truth—God]. Heis brave, Lord of Realisation, Fulfillment, of an abounding heart.He was a unique man who has gone from this world. All that wasother than Haq [God] was frozen so far as he was concerned. Hedied in the month of Jamad al-Aakhir. 1 He is gone. After him, theuniverse did not create anybody like him. O heart! Learn this: Hewas a special friend of Mahdi AS . The year of his death is Yar-e-Khas uo bud [He was a special friend].” [The underlined phrasegives the chronogram—the year 915 AH].Hazrat Mehri RZhas extracted the chronogram of the year of thedeath of Hazrat Burhanuddin RZ : “He was among the specialsuccessors of Hazrat Mahdi AS , O friend! Malik Burhanuddininvited people unto Haq—God. He expired in Jamadi al-Aakhir.He was among the successors of Mahdi AS . The year of his death isKhulafa-e-Had Da’i-e-Haq [The successors of Guidance. Heinvited unto Allah] (915 Hijri). He is laid to eternal rest inGujarat.”13.2 Bandagi Malik Gawhar RZBe it known that the fourth successor also met Hazrat ImamMahdi AS in Gujarat. Hazrat Mahdi al-Mau'ood AS gave him the gladtidings. His name is Bandagi Malik Gawhar RZ . He was among thespecial courtiers of the king of Gujarat. He knew how to convertany metal into gold. He had heard from the ulama of the time thatHazrat Imam Mahdi AS would be the king of the East and the West.He was very happy when he heard the news of the appearance ofthe Imam of the Land and the Oceans [that is, Hazrat ImamMahdi AS ]. He met the Imam AS . He performed the tasdiq of the1Jamadi al-Aakhir is the sixth month of Muslim Calendar.
