Divine Ecstasy 37for the whole of his life. Allah Most High tells me, ‘O SyedMuhammad! Since We have appointed you as the Seal of theSainthood of Prophet Muhammad SLM , We cause you to perform thefaraiz [obligations of Shariat]. This is Our Beneficence and Mercyon you.” In this respect, a researcher, classed as a man ofunderstanding, has said, “One said, ‘I am the Truth!’ the other said,‘subhani [I am the Praised!];’ In a heavily burdened state, that kingof the saints is a la sani [unmatched]. 1It is narrated that after seven years in the obliviousness, the Habibe-Zul-Jalal[the Friend of the Glorious, Splendid (that is, God)—the Imam AS ] asked for drinking water after the ‘Isha [night]prayers. The Bibi RZ brought it. But by that time, Hazrat Imam AS hadrelapsed into unconsciousness. This state continued till the time forthe pre-dawn ritual prayers. Then Hazrat Imam ASsaw that theBibi RZ was standing there with the glass of water in her hand. TheImam ASasked, “You have brought the water now?” The Bibi RZsaid, “I am standing with the water since the ‘Isha prayers.” Thenthe Imam AS said, “Bring water for wazu [ablutions].” She broughtthe water immediately.Before this, during the obliviousness, the Bibi RZ used to help theImam AS in performing the wazu [ablutions]. She used to tell him,“Miranji! Wash the hands. Miranji wash the face. Miranji! Washthe feet.” This practice went on for the previous seven years. Butthis morning, the Imam AS , who had asked water for ablutions,performed them himself. Then he performed two cycles of ritualprayers in thanksgiving. Then he supplicated: “O Allah! As thiswoman has provided me comfort by serving me, please her withYour didar [Vision].38Shawahid Al-VilayatIt is narrated that Hazrat Imam ASgave the glad tidings in clearterms to the Bibi RZ , 1 under the command of Allah, “On the Day ofResurrection, the share of [the bounty (faiz)] Seal of the Sainthoodof Prophet Muhammad SLMto [the merited] people. To the Bibi RZthis share will be equal to all the shares given to all those people,since the Bibi RZ had served the Imam AS so well.”It is narrated that after these seven years, when theunconsciousness was so constant, the condition of the Imam ASimproved. Now the situation was that Imam AS was conscious whileperforming the obedience and prayers. But he was unconscious ofhis own zath and the people around him. This condition lasted forfive years. Thus, in all the state of jazbah [ecstasy] lasted fortwelve years.It is narrated that the Bibi RZ calculated the food and water intake ofthe Imam AS during the latter five years. The quantities of water,cereals, oils and meat, the Imam AS consumed, worked out to 17.5seers. 2 In the previous seven years, the Imam AS had consumednothing.Hazrat Bandagi Miyan Shah Dilawar RZ narrates that he had heardHazrat Imam AS say that when the ecstasy occurred at Danapur, thezath of Allah manifested for the first time and the divine commandarrived, “O Syed Muhammad! We have conferred on you theknowledge of Our Book [Quran]. We have also bestowed on youOur Purport [Muradullah]. We have treated you as the hakim[ruler] on Iman [Faith]. We have given the keys of the treasures ofFaith in your hands. We have made you the helper of the deen[Religion] of Prophet Muhammad SLM . Your disavowal is Ourdisavowal and Our disavowal is your disavowal.” There are1 Hazrat Mansur Hallaj had claimed he was the Truth [Haq]--God. Another Vali[saint] had said Subhani [I am the Praised]--(God).12Here, the titles of the Bibi RZ are: Bibi Kalan, [the Great Woman], Khadija-e-Zaman [Khadiaja of the Time—Khadija RZwas the name of the first wife ofHazrat Prophet Muhammad SLM ], Bibi Ilahditi RZ .A seer is a measure of weight equal to 80 tolas. A kilogram works out to 84tolas.
