NASHOBA ASSOCIATED BOARDS OF HEALTHSHIRLEY ANNUAL REPORT 2012Nashoba Associated Boards <strong>of</strong> Health continues to serve the local Board <strong>of</strong>Health in meeting the challenges <strong>of</strong> environmental and public health needs in <strong>Shirley</strong>. Inaddition to the day to day public health work conducted for <strong>Shirley</strong> we also provide thefollowing services.• Maintaining Nashoba’s internet web site to provide information for the public.(See nashoba.org)• Nashoba assisted the Board with provided a school-located seasonal flu clinic at<strong>Shirley</strong> Middle School.• Response to health related impacts <strong>of</strong> beavers through coordination with the localBoard <strong>of</strong> Health in the issuance <strong>of</strong> the necessary permits.We look forward to continuing our work with <strong>Shirley</strong>'s Board <strong>of</strong> Health. Includedin the day-to-day work <strong>of</strong> Nashoba in 2012 were the following:• Through membership in the Association <strong>Shirley</strong> benefited from the services <strong>of</strong>Nashoba staff including: Registered Sanitarians, Certified Health Officers,Registered Nurses, Nutritionists, Registered Physical & OccupationalTherapists, Licensed Social Workers, Certified Home Health Aides, andRegistered Dental Hygienists• Provided health education programs in collaboration with the <strong>Shirley</strong> Council onAging.• Collaborated with Montachusett Home Care concerning elders at risk and othersafety issues.• Reviewed 53 Title 5 state mandated private Septic System Inspections for <strong>Shirley</strong>Board <strong>of</strong> Health. Received, reviewed, and filed these state mandated (but unfunded)Title 5 inspections. Corresponded with inspectors regarding deficiencies; referreddeficient inspections to <strong>Shirley</strong> Board <strong>of</strong> Health for enforcement action.By the <strong>Shirley</strong> Board <strong>of</strong> Health’s continued participation in the Association you canshape your future local public health programs and share in the benefits <strong>of</strong> quality service,under local control, at a reasonable cost!TOWN OF SHIRLEYEnvironmental Health DepartmentEnvironmental Information Responses<strong>Shirley</strong> Office (days).....................................45109
