Vietnam AND THE UK (LONDON)
Vietnam Airlines will officially open direct flights from Hanoi and Ho
Chi Minh City (Vietnam) to the United Kingdom in December 2011.
London Gatwick Airport has been chosen for flight operation
to/from the UK. Vietnam Airlines plans to use Boeing B777-200ER
aircraft to fly from Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat airports to Gatwick.
Four flights a week are initially scheduled.
Vietnam Airlines General Director Pham Ngoc Minh said: “Direct
flights from Vietnam to the UK will contribute to improving and developing
Vietnam Airlines’ network. London will be Vietnam Airlines’
fourth gateway in Europe along with Paris, Franfurt and
Moscow and it will also strengthen Vietnam as a main gateway
to/from Indochina”.
Gatwick Airport is 46km south of London downtown, near the city’s
financial centre, and which is among the world’s 10 largest airports.
Vietnam Airlines is urgently synchronising related procedures and
safety work - security as well as ensuring technical conditions,
