Cardiff – Castle, Gardens, Whisky & History
Cardiff offers immense variety with the personal touch. The capital
has a diversity of places and interests just waiting for its visitors to
enjoy. With easy access and a compact city centre, that takes you from
the Roman to the Cardiff Bay rejuvenation, there is a vast selection of
places to see and things to do. We combine our visit to this vibrant city
with the beauty of two of Wales’ finest gardens and the fascinating openair
National History Museum.
YOUR ITINERARY:
Day 1: Morning departure heading south over the Brecon
Beacons with a lunch stop en-route, before arriving at the
Penderyn Distillery. Wales’ first and only whisky distillery. They
have been legally distilling whisky here for over 100 years and
opened its doors to the public for the first time ever in 2008,
after being officially opened by Prince Charles. You will be taken
on a journey through the distillery’s 100 year history, where you
will observe the special production of one of the world’s finest
single malt whiskies in one of the smallest distilleries in the
world. Finish off in Penderyn’s impressive tasting room, where
you will experience two complementary glasses of whisky from
their vast range of spirits. We then continue on to Cardiff.
Day 2: Free day in Cardiff
Day 3: Day Tour beginning with Dyffryn Gardens,
Distinguished by the British Tourism association as one of the
best 100 gardens in the U.K. The gardens
were designed and built in 1908 by the
acclaimed architect Thomas Mawson.
This afternoon we continue our journey
onto St. Fagan’s. A walk around Wales –
from Celtic times to the present day. St. Fagan’s is one of
Europe’s leading open–air museums and Wales’s most popular
heritage attraction. Over forty original buildings from different
historical periods have been re-erected in the 100-acre parkland,
among them houses, a farm, a school, a chapel and a splendid
Workmen’s Institute. Traditional crafts and activities bring St.
Fagan’s alive, in workshops where craftsmen still demonstrate
their traditional skills. See how people in Wales have lived,
worked and spent their leisure time.
Day 4: This morning we begin our Cardiff Castle- Experience
