Owen’s Austria All Inclusive
Think of Austria and it’s a tussle for the iconic image that will pop into your head first: Julie Andrews
spinning on a mountaintop, Vienna’s imperial dazzle, the snowy peaks of the Alps... This former heart of
the Austro-Hungarian Empire sits at the base of the Alps and the crossroads of Central Europe – and if the
ambience here is more nostalgia than innovation, and more poise than pizzazz, then it’s easy to understand
why. European high culture was dominated by Austria for centuries during the reign of the Hapsburg dynasty.
This is the land of Mozart and Strauss, Freud and Klimt, of grand palaces, onion-bulb churches and beautiful
Baroque and Art Nouveau buildings. These days, old and new combine in a seamless experience for visitors,
transport links are superb and tourist infrastructure is frighteningly well organised, ensuring you won’t miss
any of the experiences Austria has to offer.
YOUR ITINERARY:
Sunday 18th: We leave this morning heading south to
Dover where we take our short sea crossing to Calais
we then travel through Belgium to the German border
for our overnight Dinner Bed & Breakfast.
Monday 19th: We continue today through Germany
into Austria and onto our main holiday destination in
Brandenberg and the Hotel Ascherwirt where you
will be met with a welcome drink.
Tuesday 20th: Today we take a leisurely excursion to
the chic resort of Kitzbuhel which is set against a
spectacular backdrop of stunning Alpine scenery and
combines a modern sophistication with a fairytale
atmosphere, where the multitude of bars, pavement
cafes and shops blend harmoniously with cobbled
streets and picturesque painted houses. We later head
off to Zee am See a quintessential Austrian resort, a
compact town of picture-postcard perfection, with a
lake on one side and an impressive mountain
hinterland on the other.
Wednesday 21st: Half day excursion takes us to
Kufstein, a scenic town located in northern Tyrol on
the river Inn. A stroll through the town is very
rewarding with the majestic fortress being centre of
many activities, the romantic ancient town centre is
very attractive, with galleries, museums, exquisite
shops, and traditional stores, offering high fashion
trends, hospitality, fun and lots of flair.
Thursday 22nd: Today sit back and relax and enjoy
the stunning scenery of the Austrian Alps. We begin
with the Ziller valley heading to Mayrhofen where you
will be given free time to explore this popular all year
round resort. Why not visit the show dairy to learn
how Tyrolean cheese is made or enjoy a horse &
carriage ride in the fresh air with a few of your
travelling companions. We will then continue on to
Lake Achen (Achensee) the highest lake in Tyrol.
Friday 23rd: Today we travel to Innsbruck the Capital
of the Tyrol a charming city surrounded by the tall,
Hotel Ascherwirt in Brandenberg ★★★
Enjoy picture post card scenery with a relaxed
and friendly atmosphere in the heart of the
Austrian Tyrol. Our excursion programme
features the many contrasts of towering
mountain peaks, lush green meadow, golden
forests, beautiful cities, and Tyrolean traditions.
Brandenberg is a pretty mountain village
located on a plateau above the Inn Valley; there
is a bank, shop as well as a couple of inns.
The excellent and very typical Austrian style
family run hotel is situated in the middle of
the small village of Brandenburg. The hotel
also has a sauna, solarium, and fitness room.
All en-suite rooms are a generous size with
bath or shower and WC and TV. Additional
facilities include a restaurant and bar, large
screen TV room. There is a large terrace in
front of the hotel.
ABDE
dramatic mountain peaks of the Nordkette Mountains.
Look out for the famous Golden Roof, located in the
city’s beautiful Old Town and browse the wide
selection of shops and restaurants along the bustling
Maria heresien Strasse. This afternoon we head off to
the delightful town of Rattenberg, famed for its lead
crystal, here you have free time to explore this small
