Waidring, a typically Tyrolean village, is a wonderful place to<br />
enjoy the Austrian summer. Small and self contained but with<br />
an ideal location, in a valley at the foothills of the Kitzbuhler Alps,<br />
60 miles east of Innsbruck. Little spoilt by tourism, it nevertheless<br />
lies in a superb position within easy access of some of the most<br />
beautiful scenery and towns in the Tyrol.<br />
YOUR ITINERARY:<br />
Saturday 19th: An early start for our journey to<br />
Dover for a lunch time crossing to France from where<br />
we continue into Belgium for our overnight hotel.<br />
Sunday 20th: Crossing the border into Germany we<br />
travel into the Austrian Tyrol and arrive in Waidring for<br />
check-in at the Waidringerhof Hotel for six night’s<br />
accommodation.<br />
Monday 21st: Today our excursion takes us to<br />
Rattenberg, on the River Inn, the smallest city in the<br />
Tyrol. It is a serious glass-making centre and a walk<br />
down the main street, Sudtirolerstraase, brings this to<br />
life with shop after<br />
shop displaying high<br />
quality crystal and<br />
glass products and<br />
antiques. We continue<br />
to Lake Achensee,<br />
surrounded by dark<br />
coniferous forests, it<br />
is the largest and<br />
most beautiful of the<br />
Tyrolean lakes<br />
Tuesday 22nd: A full<br />
day excursion to<br />
Salzburg, a beautiful<br />
city which was<br />
immortalized in the<br />
film the ‘Sound of<br />
Music’ and was the<br />
birthplace of Mozart.<br />

Thursday 24th: An excursion to<br />

height of 8,000 feet, followed by an<br />
afternoon visit to the resort of Zell<br />
am See, a quintessential Austrian<br />
resort, a compact town of picturepostcard<br />
perfection, with a lake on<br />
one side and an impressive<br />
mountain hinterland on the other.<br />
Friday 25th: Regretfully we must<br />
leave our hosts for the return<br />
journey to our overnight hotel in<br />
Belgium.<br />
Saturday 26th: We return to Calais<br />
for our sailing to Dover from where we complete our<br />
journey home.
