Waidring, a typically Tyrolean village, is a wonderful place to
enjoy the Austrian summer. Small and self contained but with
an ideal location, in a valley at the foothills of the Kitzbuhler Alps,
60 miles east of Innsbruck. Little spoilt by tourism, it nevertheless
lies in a superb position within easy access of some of the most
beautiful scenery and towns in the Tyrol.
YOUR ITINERARY:
Saturday 19th: An early start for our journey to
Dover for a lunch time crossing to France from where
we continue into Belgium for our overnight hotel.
Sunday 20th: Crossing the border into Germany we
travel into the Austrian Tyrol and arrive in Waidring for
check-in at the Waidringerhof Hotel for six night’s
accommodation.
Monday 21st: Today our excursion takes us to
Rattenberg, on the River Inn, the smallest city in the
Tyrol. It is a serious glass-making centre and a walk
down the main street, Sudtirolerstraase, brings this to
life with shop after
shop displaying high
quality crystal and
glass products and
antiques. We continue
to Lake Achensee,
surrounded by dark
coniferous forests, it
is the largest and
most beautiful of the
Tyrolean lakes
Tuesday 22nd: A full
day excursion to
Salzburg, a beautiful
city which was
immortalized in the
film the ‘Sound of
Music’ and was the
birthplace of Mozart.

Thursday 24th: An excursion to
the Grossglockner Pass, rising
through some stunning scenery to a
height of 8,000 feet, followed by an
afternoon visit to the resort of Zell
am See, a quintessential Austrian
resort, a compact town of picturepostcard
perfection, with a lake on
one side and an impressive
mountain hinterland on the other.
Friday 25th: Regretfully we must
leave our hosts for the return
journey to our overnight hotel in
Belgium.
Saturday 26th: We return to Calais
for our sailing to Dover from where we complete our
journey home.
