Arundel and the Arun Valley is a picturesque setting on the<br />
South Downs, historic Arundel is famous for its imposing castle<br />
and Gothic-style cathedral, and its narrow streets full of<br />
intriguing antique shops and tearooms.<br />
YOUR ITINERARY:<br />
Day 1: Morning departure heading south to our<br />
hosts at the Hilton Hotel Avisford Park between<br />
Chichester and Arundel, for the first of our 3 nights<br />
dinner, bed and breakfast.<br />
Day 2: Today we drive through the magnificent Sussex<br />
countryside and breathtaking scenery to the pretty<br />
market towns of Petworth and Midhurst. Petworth or<br />
rather ‘Peteorde’ as it was named in the Doomsday<br />
Book is a picturesque town full of character and<br />
brimming with old world charm. Take a little time to<br />
wander through the cobbled lanes, admire the<br />
Georgian architecture and stop to browse in the many<br />
antique shops. Midhurst sits on the doorstep of the<br />
Anew tour for 2010 visiting the lovely County of Kent. From<br />
our ideal base near Maidstone we cover many interesting<br />
attractions to make this a tour with something to suit everyone.<br />
YOUR ITINERARY:<br />
Monday 23rd: Depart from your home area in the<br />
morning travelling to Kent and arriving late afternoon<br />
at Village Hotel Maidstone for 4 nights stay.<br />
Tuesday 24th: Our day begins with a ride to historic<br />
Faversham. Nestling between the rural gently sloping<br />
Downs and the austere north Kent marshes, Faversham<br />
is one of southern England’s most charming towns. It<br />
now has over 475 listed buildings and a good selection<br />
of independent shops. We have time for lunch here<br />
before we leave for Brogdale, home of the National<br />
Fruit Collection. Here we enjoy a fascinating guided<br />
South Downs once again Georgian architecture and<br />
old half-timbered buildings sit next to stylish boutiques<br />
and fashionable restaurants. These fine 17th and 18th<br />
century buildings served as the setting for past resident<br />
HG Wells many books, including his best-known novel<br />
‘The invisible Man’. We continue on to the compact<br />
and intimate, Chichester which is made for exploring.<br />
There’s history on every corner, from the Tudor Market<br />
Cross to the dominant Norman cathedral.<br />
Day 3: Today we visit the seat of The Dukes of Norfolk<br />
Arundel Castle. Set in 40 acres of sweeping grounds and<br />
gardens, Arundel Castle has 1,000 yrs of history and one<br />
of the great treasure houses of England, each having its<br />
own unique place in history and is home to priceless<br />
works of art. You will be able to see paintings and<br />

tour of the orchards, with tasting opportunities, and<br />
afterwards time to relax in the shop and tea room. This<br />
is a delightful afternoon, not to be missed.<br />
Wednesday 25th: Today’s excursion takes us first to<br />
delightful Tenterden, with its antique shops and tea<br />
rooms, where we enjoy a nostalgic steam train ride.<br />
Afterwards we have time for a look round and to<br />
obtain lunch. Leaving Tenterden we visit Biddenden<br />
Vineyards for a tasting, and from here we return to<br />
the hotel.<br />
Thursday 26th: This morning have a short drive into<br />
Maidstone, the county town of Kent. Here we have<br />
England<br />
Arundel Castle and the South Downs<br />

Relax at the Hilton hotel Avisford Park,<br />
a former boys prep school set in 89acre<br />
grounds in rural Sussex. Tee off at<br />
the 18-hole golf course, work out at<br />

The excellent Village Hotel is located not<br />
far from Kent’s county town, Maidstone.<br />

Day 4: After breakfast its time to leave our hosts and<br />
begin our journey homeward.<br />

Friday 27th: After breakfast we leave and begin our<br />
