Sustainable Brownfield Regeneration:CABERNET Network Report4Understanding Brownfields:Conceptual Models4.4 MODEL 3: CABERNET Football ModelBrownfield schemes are influenced by an extensive range of stakeholders thatare involved in the regeneration process. Understanding the views of the variousstakeholder groups, in particular their concerns and expectations, is an important partof ensuring the success of both individual projects and more extensive programmes. One of the ways that this can be achieved is by mapping multi-stakeholder views.Exploring stakeholder profiles can assist with further engagement and dialogueprogrammes. Initial maps of views can be used to stimulate further interactive faceto-facediscussions, which in turn can increase trans-stakeholder group understandingof positions and interests. In order to help explore stakeholder views, the CABERNET Football Model was devisedto highlight how different stakeholder perspectives can influence and affect theregeneration process. With this interactive model, individuals are asked to list themost significant regeneration drivers. Stakeholders list and prioritise a number ofRegeneration Drivers through a web-based interface (Figure 4.8).CABERNETwww.cabernet.org.ukCABERNET’s “Football”Conceptual Model. Please select your Drivers & PressuresPlease choose the order and significance of your Drivers & Pressures. You may choose from the pre-defined lists below or choose your own.Where: 1 = Most Significant & 7 = Least SignificantAdd Your OwnChoose From ListCultural HeritageFinancial ViabilityRisk & LiabilitiesProfessional SkillsCommunity NeedsTechnical KnowledgeSpatial Planning ProcessYou Have SelectedCultural HeritageFinancial ViabilityRisk & LiabilitiesProfessional SkillsCommunity NeedsTechnical KnowledgeSpatial Planning ProcessReset Add to list Kick the ballFIGURE 4.8: The Football Model interactive screen showing the stakeholderselection list45
