Spontaneous BreathsFor Spontaneous breaths, flow is delivered to meet patient demand and maintain the circuit pressureat the measured PEEP from the previous breath. The breath is cycled when the flow drops below thePressure Support Flow Termination setting, or below 3 lpm. Spontaneous breaths may also beterminated by exceeding 2 breath periods. Chapter 4 - VENTILATION MODESThe LTV ® 1200 ventilator provides the following modes of ventilation:• Control• Assist/Control• SIMV - Synchronized Intermittent Mandatory Ventilation• CPAP - Continuous Positive Airway Pressure• Apnea Backup Ventilation• NPPV - Non-Invasive Positive Pressure VentilationEach of these modes is described below.Control ModeControl mode ventilation is selected when Assist/ Ctrl is selected and Sensitivity is set to a dash “-”.In Control mode, Volume or Pressure Controlled machine breaths are given at the rate specified bythe Breath Rate setting and no triggered breaths are allowed.Assist/Control ModeAssist/Control ventilation is selected when Assist/ Ctrl is selected and Sensitivity is on. InAssist/Control mode, the ventilator guarantees a minimum number of Volume or Pressure Controlledbreaths are given.
