EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT
SOMERVILLE, MASSACHUSETTS
S. LESTER RALPH
The Honorable, the Board of Aldermen
Massachusetts
Gentlemen:
S April 1976
I am returning Orders No 129251, 129254, 129255, 129257,
I am vetoing these because the aerial crossings in
question are in violation of Chapter 278 of the Acts
of this Act states that no person shall install overhead
cables crossing Broadway, Pearl Street, Medford
Street, Highland Avenue, Somerville Avenue, Elm Street,
Cross Street, Walnut Street, School Street, Central
Street, Bow Street, Willow Avenue, College Avenue,
Holland Street, Beacon Street and Summer Street. Each
of the aerial Crossing in question falls within the
geographic area affected by Section 2 of Chapter
This Honorable Board was informed of the existence of
this Chapter as Early as November 13, 1975 when David
Reilly, Highway Superintendent, made a personal appearance
before the Board.
Written communications to this Honorable Board regarding
Chapter 27# of the Acts of 1905 relative to the
petitions of Warner Cable of Massachusetts, Inc. for
installing further overhead cables on various street
and highways of the City was sent to your Honorable
