EditorialThis month has given you an opportunity, an opportunity that is to read lessof my ramblings, principally as ive only got two pages spare left when ivestarted to write my bit. So consider yourself lucky. Ill make up for it nextmonth.Aaaaaany way, what's happened over the last 4 weeks, truth be told not a lot, with a very full calendar it was clear that there was plenty I could have done, but in fact for a variety of reasons there's actually very little that ive done. The 12 car rally at the end of last month was eventually undertaken next toChris Smale in his Astra, due to Paul's unavailability at the last minute, darewe say it but he was fitting my central heating and hadn't finished, andGrowler Chanter, otherwise known as my wife, was quite keen that we havehot water after about 10 days without, I can tell you know, it was needed, she was starting to pong a little. Subsequently, after a few calls to find someoneto either drive my car, or who was looking for a navigator, Chris said hewas available and off we went. I relatively uneventful night left us in thirdafter a short piece of navigation near the beginning caught me out. It was oneof those simple bits that as soon as someone tells you what it was you feellike bashing your head in to the wall and shouting “Dohhhhh” as it reallywas so simple yet I couldn't see it on the night. Third gave a reasonablepoints haul, and left me in second place in the championship, so not the endof the world, and with Paul and I organising the Vauxhall Cup Rally thismonth (July) were not competiting again now until September.Anton and I were due to go off to Wales for the 1000 Lanes road rally, sadlya technical fault with the cars electrics meant that we didn't get to leave therealms of Cornwall, so had an opportunity to stay home that weekend and dosomething else. I think I may have slept for most of it, or vegetated in frontof the telly, not the best way to spend a weekend but the weather was rubbishanyway so nothing lost there. And then there's the weather, lets not talk about the weather as its somewhatdepressing again after a soggy summer for 2007 it seems that the long hotsummers of my childhood (and im only 16) are long gone. Perhaps is a reflectionon the amount of sin around, the big guy has decided to wee on ourfireworks. Or perhaps its random weather, who really cares as there's preciouslittle we can do about it anyway.August 2008 www.plymouthmotorclub.co.uk Page 7
