!!!Official’s Rant!!!Although Alan & I were away on holiday for the last 12 Car, I havefound it necessary to put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) to highlighta few anomalies not just from 12 Car competitors, which havebeen increasing over the past months, which are as follows:-1. Filling in forms correctly and signatures – All Club and MSAforms are legal documents and are required to be filled in fully andcorrectly and signed in Blue or Black ink! (Not in Pencil!) Don’t forgetalso that some forms have two sides and yes, you do have to fill itall in, as there are reasons for it.2. Driving Standards when leaving a venue – Although the competition/eventmight have finished, you are still a representative of theClub whether you were a competitor, marshal or spectator until youarrive home, so please, no more speeding off or testing the handbrakein car-parks etc, as we all know that it sounds & looks good, but not tothe general public or PC Plod!3. Retiring from an event – If as a competitor on an event (Comus,12 Car, Scatter, Autotest etc) you retire due to either mechanical failure, accident, sickness or just lost, then you must contact the organiser/co-ordinator(or pass a message via a marshal), stating your retirementas well as either visiting the finish venue to hand in your timecard/answersheets (or, where you are unable to do so, send in yourtimecard/answer sheets within 24hours). As a Club member competingon a Club event, you must also abide by the rules laid down in theMSA ‘Blue Book’.4. Protests – If you are going to make a protest, your first point ofcall is to the organiser/co-ordinator who will allow you to, as Alansays, bash your gums for 2 minutes! Whereupon the organiser/coordinatorwill make a decision. If you feel that this decision is not correct, you need to protest in the correct manner either laid down in thecompetition/championship rules or the MSA Blue Book, along withthe correct fee. Do not take it upon yourselves either as a competitoror organiser to enter into any conversation or correspondence (e-mailsetc) with any one else, as it may corrupt further proceedings by Stewardsetc. which might affect the outcome. The protest is between youand the Co-ordinator/Stewards and no-one else.August 2008 www.plymouthmotorclub.co.uk Page 25
