Camel Vale <strong>Motor</strong> <strong>Club</strong> ASWMC AutotestSt Merryn 29 th June <strong>2008</strong>In some ways this event started back during the winter , a chance mentionto Pam Hartill about Camel Vale running a Nat B event as around of the <strong>2008</strong> ASWMC Championship . This thought comingabout having competed several times at the tarmac event venue at StMerryn.With the endorsement of Nic Ayre , Championship Co-Coordinator , itwas in the calendar . Not paying much attention , just that it was in ,but it was to be the day after <strong>Plymouth</strong> MC’c Summer <strong>Centenary</strong>Charity Ball ! This major event had been planned for well over threeyears , the organisers of which were rewarded by special guests StuartTurner and Alan Dean-Lewis from the MSA , not only were they todeliver two very entertaining speeches , but also present to PMC the15 th MSA CENTENARY TROPHY , in recognition of the clubsachievement , the club now officially the 15 th oldest licensed club inthe UK out of over 400 clubs , well chuffed are we .The celebrations had to be in moderation as I did not want to miss theevent at St Merryn , James and Tracey Menear were also at the Dukeof Cornwall for the celebrations , another driver whilst enjoying thenight had thoughts on the activities of the next day.The night survived and a leisurely start by normal standards , events atWarminster and Blandford usually have 9.00 am starts , the plannedsign on for St Merryn a sensible 11.0 am , ideal.Twelve entries assembled for the event , with National AutotestChampionship Leader Alistair Moffatt being drafted in as Clerk of theCourse , assisted by Thomas Bricknell.At first glance the tests looked quite complicated , but that is one ofthe tricks of drawing and designing tests, as when they were beingdriven they were not quite as bad and were fantastic.
