2.3. Coating thicknessEN ISO 2360The thickness of the coating on each part to be tested must be measured on thesignificant surface at not less than five measuring areas (appr.1 cm 2 ) with 3 to 5separate readings taken at each area. The average of the separate readings taken atone measuring area gives a measurement value to be recorded in the inspectionreports. None of the values measured may be less than 80% of the specified minimumvalue otherwise the thickness test as a whole will be considered unsatisfactory.REQUIREMENTS:Powders:Class 1 1 : 60 µmClass 2 : 60 µmTwo-coat powder system (classes 1 et 2) : 110 µmTwo-coat PVDF powder system : 80 µmLiquid coatingTwo-coat PVDF system : 35 µmThree-coat metallized PVDF system : 45 µmSilicon polyester without primer : 30 µm(minimum 20% silicon resin)Water-thinnable paints : 30 µmOther thermosetting paints : 50 µmTwo-component paints : 50 µmElectrophoretic coating : 25 µmOther coating systems may require different coating thicknesses, but they may only beapplied with the approval of the Executive Committee. The results must be assessed as shown by four typical examples (minimum coatingthickness for powder coatings: 60 µm):Example 1:Measured values in µm : 82, 68, 75, 93, 86 average: 81Rating:This sample is perfectly satisfactory.Example 2:Measured values in µm : 75, 68, 63, 66, 56 average: 661There are two different classes of powders that must meet different requirements.
