AppendicesA5 – Special specifications for coatings on cast accessories forarchitectural applications under the QUALICOAT quality label1. IntroductionCast accessories may be made of different alloys whose chemical composition is specifiedin the EN 1706 standard. The nature of the alloy and production method determine the final quality of the coatedaccessory. Some alloys – especially those based on silicone and copper – are the cause ofunsatisfactory resistance to corrosion. The pretreatment cycle must be tailored to the alloy and the quality of the castings. Foroutdoor architectural applications, it is necessary to use special alloys which have goodresistance to corrosion as indicated in EN 1706.It is the responsibility of the customer to define the alloy.2. Work SpecificationsAll the requirements set out in Chapter 3 of the Specifications are applicable to thetreatment of accessories, with the exception of the etching degree which is not specifiedfor castings (see Specifications, § 3.2.1).3.
