Purpose of the <strong>Specifications</strong>Due to continuous research to develop new finishes, widening the field of applications <strong>for</strong> coatedaluminium, it is important to define evaluation criteria in order to judge compliance with thespecifications <strong>and</strong> laws now in <strong>for</strong>ce.New technologies producing special finishes (such as wooden effect), called decorations, havebeen developed. Different kinds of technology have been established. They are based <strong>for</strong>example on the transfer of images on coated supports, or on a powder on powder applicationusing suitable technologies.The object of the following procedure is to ensure constant control of the finished product so thata QUALIDECO licence can be granted <strong>for</strong> external use.The procedure does not include process tests because the technology is patented.2. Steps <strong>for</strong> granting <strong>and</strong> renewing a QUALIDECO licence2.1 Preliminary conditionsThe company which per<strong>for</strong>ms the coating cycle must hold the QUALICOAT quality label toguarantee that it applies the coating under the best conditions <strong>and</strong> has the equipment <strong>for</strong> thetests.The powder coating must be approved by QUALICOAT.2.2 Work <strong>Specifications</strong>2.2.1 StovingTo obtain decorated finishes, it is necessary to have a stoving process that operates with asystem to check the metal temperature, under the conditions prescribed by the supplier of thedecoration system.2.2.2 LaboratoryThe decorator must at least be equipped with the following apparatus:♦♦specular glossmeterinstrument <strong>for</strong> measuring coating thickness2.2.3 In-house controlThe decorator is obliged to monitor the production processes <strong>and</strong> inspect the decoratedproducts in accordance with the following procedure:♦Incoming materials controlThe decorator must have a register showing all data concerning the material received<strong>and</strong> to be decorated (date, lot, coater, coater’s licence, powder supplier, approvalnumber of the powder, basic colour).All the coated material must be delivered with a certificate of con<strong>for</strong>mity.
